Your first mistake was in buying Apple in the first place, for the very reason that they control you. Although content control isn't limited to Apple, they are the masters of it.

So you can't get this stuff legally from other sources? It's not illegal to obtain content for your apple devices outside of iTunes, it's just not that easy to do so. Music of course can be legally purchased on line in many ways, all you need to do is ensure the music is in MP3 format before you transfer it into your iTunes folder.

In your case, where you can't get it anywhere and downloading it will not hurt anyone (it's not like they're missing a sale because you can't buy it anyway) I'd say go ahead.

Being a good or bad person has nothing to do with whether or not you pirate music/movies.

If a homeless child steals an apple to feed his baby sister, does that make him a bad person? Stealing is wrong isn't it?

It's slightly different in this case. In your hypothetical example, an apple, stolen for one and thus deprived for another for a good reason is different than one copy of a digital thing taken for purely selfish purposes, but no harm in the taking

Well... if you can't buy it lawfully even if you try so hard... then in my book it's okay to get it otherwise.
(The law is different of course... This is just my personal opinion.)
