Forums - General - What setup will you use over the next 5 years for your technology?

i won't stick to one company i know that

i'll probably stick with Android phones, but could go to iPhone or Windows Phone if i wanted it
but probably get a nexus 7 or an iPad for my portable computer needs, i don't need a laptop and i already got my new pc

For gaming, i'll get both the 3ds and Vita, i'm not bothered about the wii u, or the next playstation/ xbox
I might get a better TV in this time, but don't really need it

i will stick to iTunes for my music and DVD for my movies as long as i can

Xbox Series, PS5 and Switch (+ Many Retro Consoles)

Need a new smartphone (android) and a new laptop (might need Mac for Final Cut Pro but I'm not an Apple fan) hopefully early next year before my trip. I need a new TV for my room but that's going to have to wait. I was thinking of the PS3 3D monitor because those prices fell really fast and its the perfect size for what I need.

Final Cut Pro is overrated. Check out Adobe's Premier and After Effects suite. If you want to save some money and don't need the full pro level stuff, check out Sony's Vegas Pro.

No special plans really.

When it comes to gaming I will stick to Playstation, Nintendo and PC. The WiiU will have to wait about a year, but I will likely get a PS4 at launch. I already have Vita and a 3DS.

After many self debates when it comes to my personal computers, I have decided to stick out my current desktop for the next few years. Ivy Bridge was tempting, but my current Sandy Bridge still runs strong and everything I throw at it. However, I will upgrade to a Kepler card in the next few months. Also, I've decided to sell off my aging laptop, which was rarely used, and I will replace it with a tablet. More thank likely I will go with the Nexus 7 or Transformer Pad Infinity (amazing device btw).

Phone wise, I will stick to Google Nexus devices unless Windows 8 phones draw me in. I currently have the Nexus S with Jelly Bean and I love it to death.

Finally, I will get a new TV soon for my bedroom but not sure on which one yet.

e=mc^2

Gaming on: PS4 Pro, Switch, SNES Mini, Wii U, PC (i5-7400, GTX 1060)

Console wise - WiiU at launch and either the PS4 or Nextbox. Probably Xbox, unless they go kinect mad, in which case its PS4, although not at launch. Got a 3DS, so handhelds are sorted.

Phone will always be Android and most likely a Samsung Galaxy S4 by the time I upgrade.

Will buy a Blu-ray player and a new laptop/tablet (not anything Apple though) in a couple of years time. TV is good for a while yet, unless I see a bargain!

It is very hard to know! I am in my last year of uni, so where I will be in 5 years time depends greatly on whether or not I can get a nice job, move out and have plenty of money to get what I want (and go a little bit mad!)

So at the moment, I am kind of living in 2 places, so everything is a bit awkward.

At Uni, I have a nice new desktop PC that should last me some time once I get my second monitor (and some extra cooling for a second 670 in SLI) as well as my PS3 and Xbox. Then at home, more PS3s! (we have extra for blu-ray players) and a laptop and a tablet...

In 5 years, I will probably be gaming on my PC and PS4, but the nextBox is doubtful and I can't see console gaming continuing for too long though

As for portable computing, I am in the Android/Windows 7 camp, but I don't know where to go next. I use gmail, gcal and many more google services so I feel I that I am basically stuck with Android smartphones, so I will be sticking with my Sony phones. Oh and hopefully the Vita will keep going for some time, if not, I will have to get a 3DS

My laptop is getting old now but I don't feel I can actually replace it with a tablet, they are just so lacking in features compared to a fully fledged PC. I think the best solution is to wait a little while and get a hybrid windows 8 device so that I can use the desktop mode for proper productivity and not-metro for web browsing

I need to keep Sky for football mostly, even though I make heavy use of Netflix, I will still mostly watch TV in a nice old fashioned way

I'm been a MS user since the dos days and it's made me into the techie that I am today. I do venture into the Apple and Linux worlds occasionally and I do love my Android. With that said I'm going to stick mainly to MS. Win 8 looks good, Win 8 Phone looks good, and the Surface looks fantastic. I don't really need a new phone or a tablet/laptop, but I will be upgrading to Win 8 and Xbox ∞.

I'm gonna use a hovering television.

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash
