Images of a GameStop Wii U advertisement have been circulating the internet today, and we now have confirmation of the “official” plans for the promotion. Since I have good relations with GameStop management, I can confirm that these are official Nintendo-made advertisements that are intended to go on display in GameStop stores on August 13th (though some stores may obviously have put theirs up early).

I can also confirm that there is currently no SKU in the GameStop system for a Wii U pre-order, but I’m told it is likely that pre-orders will begin the same day or shortly after. With in-store advertising and official pre-orders just around the corner, it seems as though we’ve gotten our first sign that Nintendo will soon release the big news we’ve all been waiting for: Wii U’s price, release date, and other official launch details.

I don't quite know where i'll be living by this November. I don't want them to start taking preorders this quickly...

I plan to preorder on Monday -- if that is the day that preorders open.

For all the negative press coming out of E3, Wii U is going to be the sales darling of the holiday season.  Mario Bros U is going to sell probably 1:1 with the hardware just like Twilight Princess with the original Wii, and all the naysayers are once again going to be proven wrong, just as they were with DS, Wii, and 3DS.

Finally. I've had my money saved and waiting for a year to pre-order a Wii U.
