Forums - Sales Discussion - July 2012 NPD Thread (360=203k, PS3+Wii=211k, DS=3DS, PSV=Flatline)

Based on the data released, and various hints I think it's something like this, give or take 5,000 - 10,000 -

X360 - 203,000

3DS - 160,000 (higher than June 2012, which was 155,000, June was five weeks, July only four, so being up at all actually means a large weekly increase)

DS - 155,000 (higher than June 2012, which was 150,000 same as comment above)

PS3 - 135,000 ish. We know it is down from 148,000 (June 2011, since only 3DS grew from last June). PS3 & Wii together are about 210,000.

Wii - 75,000 ish - this is semi confirmed, and gels well with the Wii + PS3 figure.

Vita - 55,000 ish - supposedly still below 700,000. Could be 60,000, but it's a terrible figure for a new platform regardless (PS3 never dropped below 80k / month in the US)

PSP - 15,000 ish.

Even if it's 125k each, that would be considered good

Great for the DS and in line for 3DS - next month with mario, kingdom hearts and the XL should be good to it

The PR said "Both the DS and the 3DS, however, realized a month-over-month unit sales increase over June 2012".

So take the June NPD numbers for both as a minimum, whatever they were.

What PR?

The NPD press release.

Wow, not even during the "Five Hundred and ninety nine US dollars" days? I'm impressed - with both PS3 and Vita.

And 3DS = DS = 125k, almost confirmed - it's higher on a week average not on absolute numbers

I see, too bad it's hard to tell, since last month was a 5 week month

@Herolink: thanks too!

NPD clarified to me that the comment about NDS and 3DS units compared to last month is meant to be an average per week comparison. I realize y'all already had that inkling, but that's for sure what Anita Frazier meant.

That 155k each was too good to be true, c'mon

Nothing happened in the month to cause such a spike - yet it happened to the DS and 3DS numbers at least remained solid, even with the XL announcement and only one medium sized release

3DS/DS is more like 120-130k... not 150k... the " higher than June" is about the avg per week.
