Xbox 720 will come with Windows 8 support according to what could be a slip up by Microsoft general manager Brian Hall.

 Hall was discussing the launch of Outlook.com in an interview with The Verge when he mentioned the next Xbox.

Here’s the full quote:

“We’ve had Hotmail and operated Hotmail for about sixteen years, we obviously have Exchange, and Outlook, that people use at work. We just decided it was time to do something new and bring the best from each of those and put them together and release it right in time for the new wave of products that we could have coming out with Windows 8 with the new version of Office with the New Windows phone and the new Xbox.”

I don't think he meant Windows would be in the next Xbox but didn't a rumor said the next Xbox would have an os based of Windows 8? I don't see the point of having a full Win8 in a closed console.

Fall 2012 release confirmed!

I really can't wait for teh nextbox, a good windows 8 tablet, and for verizon to get a windows 8 cell phone line up. Than i can have all of my devices be similar and easy to talk to each other and sync.

1) I think we all should have known by now neXtBox will have strong ties to Win8.
2) However, I think this is the first time an MS person directly mentioned the coming of a "new Xbox". To me, this means its even more certain that its launch is firmly planned already... pushing it to a latest can be in late 2013 as they won't do a surprise fall 2012 launch.

I have started saving money for couple of month now to get the tablet and the new xbox at the end of this year!
Can't wait! How much do i need to save?

I think it was pretty much expected, but it's nice to hear Microsoft pushing a unity between all their upcoming platforms.

Funny. I read that as a new version of Office is coming out for Windows phone and the new XBox. So, Microsoft positions the XBox brand to not only take over the living room, but places where people work to.

Not surprised one bit. Now, if they make it so that an Arcade game bought on one system (say Xbox) can be played across all their screens (Tablet, Phone, PC etc...) then they will have what would have to be considered a Killer Feature.

My thoughts exactly. I'll start by installing Windows 8. I don't have a current need for a tablet, but when I need a new phone it will be a Win 8 Phone. And of course I'll be getting the next Xbox.
