Forums - Gaming - Quick question for Gamestop employees: How much info do you guys keep?

How much data is displayed on that computer screen?

I went to Gamestop in the Savannah Mall today and grabbed a few shitty games (The Saboteur, Front Mission Evolved, Dragon Age 2, and Mortal Kombat Vita).  Everything combined came up to about $45.  Anyway, while I was paying for my stuff and the following conversation took place:

Store Clerk:  "Will that be all for today?  Is there anything you'd like to pre-order?"

Me:  "Nah.  I'm good.  I'll probably pay off Resident Evil 6 when it gets closer to release date."

Store Clerk:  "Do you have your Power Up rewards card?"

Me:  "Of course!"  *gives him card*

Store Clerk:  *Chuckles*  "MR.  LEWIS." *Chuckles again* "So, how did you like The Amazing Spider-Man?"

Me: "It was alright.  Not as good as I expected but I guess.....hey!  Is that in the computer?  What else do you have on me?

Store Clerk:  something along the lines of "I can't tell you."

I paid for my games and I left.  Anyway, I purchased The Amazing Spider-Man over a month ago.  I bought a lot of other games since then, too.  This was at a Gamestop almost 60 miles from my house and a very long way from the other Gamestop where I bought Amazing Spider-Man.

So, if there's anybody here that works for Gamestop, what do you know about me?  WHAT DO YOU KNOW?  Do I need to work for Bane so that I can get the "Clean Slate Program"?

They seem to at least know what platforms i do and don't own. I've never had a sales clerk recommend a non-Nintendo game to me, for one.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Canadian Gamestops don't operate on the same system and keep almost no customer information on hand

In the past, whenever I'd buy a 360 game, they'd recommend another 360 game.  If I bought a Wii game, they'd suggest another Wii game.  I just assumed there was some sort of list they went to that always had the next big game for whichever platform you were buying for.  Now, that innocent assumption is no more.  They know exactly what I bought.

*thinks about purchases of Lollipop Chainsaw, Onechanbara Bikini Samurai Squad, and Dead or Alive Xtreme 2*

Oh.  My.  God.  THEY KNOW!!

Pretty sure you [should] have a legal right to view your own details... I believe companies here in UK at least are obligated to send the information they collect about you if you request it from them.

They know shit about me, always trying to get me to preorder games I don't want and trying to get me to subscribe to game informer.

I never get asked these questions at my GameStop, the only thing I get asked is if I want "game protection" which is basicly a 1 year warranty for €3, I laugh and say my ps1 games still work I don't need that and I moonwalk out of there.

You should have waited out past closing time and when no one else is around, you could make him talk. You are a cop right? Put your interrogation skills to use. Or...you could just stop using you rewards card. Do you even redeem your points anyways?

The best thing to do to avoid them knowing your gaming habits is to buy obscure and last gen games. If you buy games like Evergrace, Tenchu shadow assassins, Nights 2, Aqua teen hunger force zombie ninja pro am, GIANTS Citizen Kabuto, Zack and Wiki. Once they see a purchased list like that they just don't give a frak anymore because they are clueless about 90% of the titles I buy from them.

Thought the biggest mistake you made was buying Onechanbara Bikini Samurai Squad, everyone knows that Bikini Zombie Slayers is the superior version.
