I never really felt like the 3rd parties were putting the effort they could have done into the gamecube either though (not that I blame them, since the PS2 was so popular)

Do you not think so?  I mean, the PS2 stole many of the third-parties to exclusivity, but the Gamecube got pretty much as much stuff as the Xbox got - which was comparable to their market share, I suppose.

Certainly loads of PS2 stuff I played and enjoyed like Timesplitters 2, SSX 3, Tomb Raider: Legend, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, Spyro: A Hero's Tail, Crash Nitro Kart, The Sims: Bustin' Out, Crazy Taxi etc. came to the Gamecube.  All of those were relatively big third-party games.

I can get where you're coming from in that stuff like Tekken, Devil May Cry, Metal Gear Solid etc. stayed on the PS2, but equally it didn't come to Xbox either.  Sony either moneyhatted those franchises or they chose to stay where the userbase was.

I think third parties did put the effort in with the GC, it's just those efforts were never really rewarded because Gamecube owners just bought Nintendo first-party games anyway :P

This, i bought most of my 3rd party games on GC, because they usually ran better, (Sonic Heroes, Spider-man, SC2, etc.) but i know im in the minority

Not to mention Soul Calibur 2, Splinter Cell, Tony Hawk, and the fact that GC had Resident Evil 4 and Viewtiful Joe first as well.  Gamecube had more cross-platform games than N64 (due to the cartridge format) or Wii (due to controls/tech).

I do not trust Take-Two when it comes to supporting a Nintendo console with anything outside of sports.

Color me skeptical with a grain of salt. Seems false.

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

Yep, all that stuff too - I knew there were things I forgot!

So yeah, I do believe it's more of a re-turning point, since Nintendo could always have had the third-party support if they'd worked at it.

Actually, the GC did receive far less 3rd party support than did even the Xbox.

You mention games like Metal Gear Solid, and while GC did receive a port of the first game, Xbox did receive MGS 2.  There were also several 3rd party games that the GC did not receive or recieved poor ports.   I can list dozens of games the PS2 and Xbox received that the GC did not.

Go on then.  You got me with MGS2 - I did not know that.  Grand Theft Auto would also be another one, so there's two for you.

I'll get working on my list of third-party games which the Gamecube and PS2, or just GC alone, got.

Seriously, though, I can understand the point you're making but to say Gamecube didn't get third-party support isn't something I agree with.  Generally (although not 100%), it received same-quality versions of multiple big franchises at the time, the support just dried up after a while when third-parties realised they weren't selling well enough.  The support was there to begin with, apart from a few exceptions.

It's funny, as my two favorite PS360 franchises (Bioshock and Batman) have finally made it to a Nintendo platform. Of course, it look a whole new generation to get there, but hey, who's complaining?

Seriously though, I'm very much excited for this. I was going to get the game on PC, but now that it's (supposedly, apparently it's still not set in stone.) coming to Wii U... well thdat changes things. ^_^

Thing's become aren't needed after awhile!

Now us Ninty Gamer's don't need another console to get by with some 3rd Parties.

I'll jump on this tomorrow.   I'm currently takling a 15 minute break from Xenoblade Chronicles with my son to stretch our limbs out and check on updates.  I've compiled a list similar to this before.  But I'd also like to note that advertising was also larger for the Xbox editions of mulit-platform games (whether that was MS' doing or the publisher, I'm not sure) but that is unfortunately not something easily quantified like the game list.

Now if they would only make a Bioshock Collection for the Wii-U...

This would make sense.

It would also attract more sales than BioShock Infinite alone. As a fair few people (that down own a PC/PS3/360) who never played the first two would not bother with the third.

By including the first two, it makes it worth the purchase for these people.
