This right here.
Everyone remembers what Sony's reasoning behind releasing the PSP as powerful as it was right? They wanted to give gamers a handheld that was a more console like experience, with Sony and other developers following with games like Syphon Filter, GTA, Test Drive Unlimited, Gran Turismo, LBP, Crisis Core, etc. Sure developers can still throw niche titles at the system, but they made it quite clear that handheld systems will work with any style of game and do just fine.
I own a Vita and a 3DS, just as I own a PSP and a DS from the previous gen. If the game interests me, I'll play it. However, if the game is already on console or is a multiconsole/handheld release, I very rarely double dip and usually purchase the console title, something that is a problem with both the Vita and 3DS.
From reading the comments on this thread though, I think the half or more people who don't own a Vita should get more enjoyment out of the games you own rather than hopping on each and every Sony thread throwing out your doom and gloom hope against the Vita and the company.

Yeah, the PSP was suppose to deliver that but still fell short a little bit. A big reason was the lack of a second analog, a pivotal neccessity when it comes to the quality of a vast amount of console games and has been so for years. Sure there are games that work well with a d-pad but they have shrunk, but that's nothing compared to the games best suited to one analog stick which it would be hard to claim any game is better off with that control set is developers were allowed the option. I don't see many games opt to use one analog instead of two on consoles. It's really not a handheld vs home console experience thing either, it is just a preceived quality difference. Handhelds have always been pinned as having poor quality, sub-home console games. Games that cater to an audience that doesn't care all that much about current standards(i.e. graphics) or that is of a younger demographic and probably don't know any better.
What people are overlooking in the Vita is that it is right up there with current gen consoles. It's a handheld that finally delivers the standard of what this gen was capable of giving the gamer. Great graphics, game engines, chat, web browser, online multiplayer, ad hoc, apps, full controls including dual analogs.
This system is legit. Out of any handheld ever made that you should have it should be the Vita. A real quality console for quality games that is a handheld, it is truly astounding, and of all the people that you'd think would give a crap it'd be these gamers here who are willing to talk about gaming. The enthusiast, the collective brain of the core consumer, people who love games.
