Forums - General - My car keeps turning itself off whilst I'm driving?! (Help?)

So I'm driving along all happy 'n stuff and out of no-where BAM it shuts itself down, sometimes after about ten seconds it springs back to life, it has happened 5 times in the last month, the most recent times have been with closer intervals, anyone know what might be wrong with it?

It's not the battery because it is pretty much brand new.

bring it into shop for checkup?

does it start up fine, b/c it sounds like your alternator might be bad

Battery/alternator.

PS: You shouldn't go to an internet forum about video games asking about things only a mechanic would know for sure =/

Hey some of you might know about cars, I know ioi does, the battery is fine, my car (unlike many others apprently) has a battery level meter.

I think it might be dirty fuel injection or whatever you call it, yahoo answer reckon that's what it is, because I always go for the cheaper fuel and that can dirty it.

no not his bat--the only time your battery might be giving you trouble is when you start up the car---after the car turnsover and starts running it gets all the electricity it needs (to run the motor) from the alternator to run

You're new avatar is way better than your last one.

oh and thanks for clearing that up, it's likely 2 things;

1: Alternator (However it was tested 2 months ago and was working fine, but anything can happen from then)

2: Dirty Fuel Injector (can cause the same symptoms as a faulty Alternator)

The accelerator cord could be loose. Or a faulty fuel pump.

did you check your air filter?
