2.8M for PS3+PS2 means at least 2M for PS3 which is bad looking at last year numbers, But great compared to the fall other platforms had.

Nope. PS3 is between 1.5-1.7M.

Stills much better than Wii or 360

Going by your predictions PS2 will ship between 1.1 to 1.3M in this quarter.

Can't see the PS2 selling so many units.

PS3 and PS2 numbers won't be so close.

PS2 now is ready for the next gen... it is outselling Wii and 360.

Long live the King!

It was the same last year, it seems like sony allways ships many Ps2 this quarter by some odd reason.

We don't know for sure though.

------

Basically admitting Vita sales are bad by not giving a breakdown, not going to hit 8 million at this rate.

Serious question guys and girls...

How long do we all think the PS2 can keep selling for? Another 5 Years?

5 years sounds about right. Until the PS3 takes it spot, somewhere in the middle of PS4's lifecycle.

US$ 24 billion dollar loss ? is that right ?

I'm pretty sure the $45m loss was caused by PSV sales.

I find hard to believe that PS3 is still being sold at loss.

Where does it say that

He is assuming the total loss is $24b US dollars, so he probably thinks PS3 is still being sold at a big time loss.

Misleading titles can have that effect.

The person who wrote the title of this article changed it

It was US$24billion before.

I was just asking if the title was right.

I was asking where the "PS3 still being sold at loss" came from, as that can't be concluded simply from the $45 million Game division loss (which is mostly likely caused by Vita being sold at a loss)

Understood now.

But I said, i don't believe PS3 was the cause of this loss.

And I agree with you.

This $45m has to be caused by PSV poor sales.

No way the PS3 is still being sold at loss.

Or PS4 dev costs....

who knows.. the NES was discontinued in 2003 making it 20 years.. so the PS2 could go on till 2020..

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

yeah probably partially due to PS4 R&D. I didn't even think of that.

depends how long people keep replacing their consoles in the west and japan and how well emerging poorer nations keep taking it up.  doubt it will be another 5 years though.

If America and Europe are anything like JP, then I doubt anything significant numbers-wise comes from them. Maybe Eatern Europe...

To be still shipping over a Million a Quarter, over 12 Years after release is simply outstanding.
