Teen Faces $18,000 Bill for Wild Party

MELBOURNE, Australia (Jan. 15) - An Australian teenager who threw a wild party while his parents were away could face a hefty fine after police said Monday they might charge him for the cost of breaking the gathering up.

More than 500 people turned up to the party Saturday in the southern city of Melbourne, and some of them went on a rampage when police responded to complaints about the noise.

Police cars were pelted with glass bottles and nearby houses and gardens were vandalized before at least 30 officers, a helicopter and the dog squad were able to end the melee at the suburban home. No one was arrested.

Victoria state Police Commissioner Christine Nixon said it would be difficult to prove exactly who caused the estimated $18,000 in damage, but the youth may hold ultimate responsibility because he threw the party.

"He needs to learn a lesson, and one way or another we will be making sure that happens," Nixon told reporters at a news conference.

The 16-year-old told local media he had no regrets about the party because he believed invited guests had no role in the ruckus. Asked if he would do it again, the youth said he would do it again this weekend - if his parents were not due home from a vacation this week.

Victoria's acting Premier Rob Hulls said the youth's parents had no idea about the party and were horrified when police told them what had happened.

If this is my kid, I so going to kick his ass. Spoiled kid...

He lost his virginity at the party that's why he has no regrets

"Why isn't samus in a mario kart game?"

Most kids nowadays are kinda spoiled. I'd kick some serious ass if my kid did that!

If a kid of mine did that, I'd be busting out the old 9-iron

A YOUTH faces child porn and nuisance charges after attending a wild party that left a trail of damage, terrorised neighbours and caused an international storm.

Two 16 year-olds face court over the infamous party.

One male has been charged with producing child pornography and creating a public nuisance.

He has been bailed to appear at a children's court next month.

The other is expected to be charged on summons to also appear in court.

Dozens of police, the dog squad and a helicopter were forced to control a mob of 500 youths at the unsupervised party in Narre Warren South at the weekend.

Booze-fuelled partygoers allegedly damaged cars, destroyed gardens and littered streets with empty alcohol containers.

The party, which was advertised on MySpace, has hit world headlines.

The fallout has reverberated across news bulletins, websites and internet forums across the globe.
