Those reviews seem unneccesarily harsh. They all said it was a perfect game, yet since it was 'conservative' it only gets an (admittadly great) 8/10? Why? What could they have done differently? Seems like a touch of hate here, but who knows. Hopefully it'll level out a bit more as time goes by.

New music tracks?

It seems there isn´t a single new music track.I don´t know about you but that music on the first level (same one that´s in NSMB Wii) gets really annoying haha.

I suppose so; didn't know about the music tracks :/

But still, everything else seems to be new, and the coin mechanic seems to be a good one, and encourages repeated play. The multiplayer sounds solid (if not online), and the levels seem fun to play.

I guess we'll see when it comes out, but so far it has a lot going for it IMO...

CVG Review: 8 out of 10

Downers:

Feels very similar to NSMB
Doesn't do enough to stand tall as its own game

Uppers:

Typically tight, enjoyable platforming from Nintendo
Ideal for collecting obsessives

The Verdict:

NSMB2 is yet another great Mario platform game, with some cracking new features, but it's too similar to earlier games in the 'New' series to bea classic in its own right.

That sounds about what I was expecting. It's a series, but yeah, it should be different really. Hopefully NSMBU will mix things up.

I can't help but think that, if they changed the artstyle, it would easily sail into the 90's on Metacritic...

Yeah, as for the rest we all know what to expect, a very solid 2D platformer.IMO they need to work on the music and online component for these NSMB games.

I don´t know if you were gaming in the 80s and early 90s, but the music tracks in SMB3, SMBW, etc..were completely different, and many of them pretty good,  I can´t say the same about these NSMB games.

The music tracks in Mario Galaxy, though, wonderful. If only they applied that same work to the NSMB games.

The biggest addition so far in terms of online is the Worldwide Coin Total which ranks whichever region gained the most coins as well the overall coin total so far. "Japan isn't going to lose!" Not saying this is going to redeem whatever you were talking about, just wanted to point that out. As far as music goes from what I've heard, it's the same though there could be remixs and possibly one new track.

Happy I pre-ordered this a while ago, definitely looking like the best in the series. I don't have much love for NSMB, NSMBWii was good, but nothing amazing, this is actually looking very addictive, I can't wait. If it's even half as good as SMB3, then I'll be very happy with it. I just wish they'd bring the music up to par with the Galaxies. (And go back to a sprite-based art style, but that'll never happen :c)

This game will be massacred by the critic for this "similarity".

I expect some 4s and 5s, even though it's clearly fun!

Nintendo's servers won't crash

Though, I may digi-download to say I did...especially if it's cheaper.

We hate you Reggie for not giving us that pretty box! You hear me?! WE HATE YOU!!!!

I'm not kidding, I used to like Reggie a lot, but now I'm really wishing he leaves.

I don't know, some bad decisions here, some idiot decisions there, but I feel he lost some of his energy and love - and that sucks. His body is clearly not ready anymore.
