Not gonna happen. Wish it was, though! They simply won't have enough to ship. At launch, lots of consoles undergo shortages because manufacturing is slow. Nintendo simply isn't gonna be able to ship the bare minimum 5m it'll need to beat Vita for the year. The demand should be there, though, what with NSMBWiiU being a launch title.
That said, your 3DS prediction is easy. Redesign and 2D Mario? No way that isn't gonna rule the holidays. I'd say 10m, even, :P.

And people need to remember that the Wii suffered extreme shortages; with enough stock available the Wii would have likely sold over 4m by the end of 2006.  Problem is, the WiiU won't have enough stock to make this prediction come true, no matter how well received/priced it is... even though Vita will probably have less than a 6m total install base by the end of the year.

Bold prediction is bold...

3DS will easily ship 9M this holidays, probably even above 10M, i remember DS shipments were crazy back in 2008 :o

At first, I was going to say "Hell no!" to this prediction, but then I realized how strong the Wii brand is now compared to when the first Wii launched. If they advertise the shit out of it, people are gonna buy it.

I still don't think it will actually outsell the Vita though. Call of Duty and other titles may push sales far more than most think.

WiiU selling 3 million seems like it could be possible, but it won't pass Vita this year. As for 3DS at 9 million... man. It would still be a huge success at 7-8 million. :P Any more would make it a sheer phenomenon.

Also thing the numbers for the 3DS are a bit high I'm a bit more cautious and say it should do around 7 million during the holidays.

I think 3DS's best holiday is yet to come... this holiday should be slightly better then last time. (last time had great games and huge price cut that year). Next year I think 3DS sales might explode, depending on software.

The WiiU won't be even close. The hype's just not there like it was in 2006. And there is no way it will come anywhere near 5 million, absolutely ridiculous prediction.

If the Wii U costs $300, it will sell 5 millions

The Vita will sell some more healthy amounts of units come november so I don't think the Wii U can catch up to the 5-6 million units the Vita will manage for the year. Even if the Wii U sells crazy it will probably supply constrained to reach that number...
