YE 2012 Prediction: Wii U will sell more in 2012 than the Vita will in its first year, 3DS will push out 9 million during the holidays alone

Not gonna happen. Wish it was, though! They simply won't have enough to ship. At launch, lots of consoles undergo shortages because manufacturing is slow. Nintendo simply isn't gonna be able to ship the bare minimum 5m it'll need to beat Vita for the year. The demand should be there, though, what with NSMBWiiU being a launch title.
That said, your 3DS prediction is easy. Redesign and 2D Mario? No way that isn't gonna rule the holidays. I'd say 10m, even, :P.
