Nope, 20 now....my parents waited for it to happen till I was 18, then they decided to vaccinate me as it would be "worse" if it came.
Never will as I've been vaccinated & will get boosters when needed.

Holy crap, seriously? I never knew what your avvy was supposed to actually be.

For about 3-5 days I suffered so badly, it was sheer horror. I never felt so sick in my whole life. And my whole body, especially my face, looked just ridiculous, the doctors could hardly believe it was just normal chicken pox. Luckily, after 3-5 absolutely horrible days, I quickly felt a lot better. But it took several weeks until people were no longer staring at me, and months until I looked almost normal again. So yes, from my experience, it really is a lot worse when you're older. |
:O
Maybe I sould just go into a hospital and try to get it now during summer break to get it over with.

No, I was kidding. Smallpox was eradicated in the late 70s, there hasn't been a human case for 34 years. And thank God, its one of the worst diseases there is.
Thanks for the concern though! ;)
(My avatar IS smallpox though)

Yeah I had chicken pox when I was like 8 years old. It feels so horrible and looks freaking disgusting. I remember my mom put this black ointment on all the spots in my body and it was itchy. Ughh, I feel terrible just thinking about it as it was also accompanied by one of the worst fevers.
I remember I also got measles once, and that was pretty bad as well.

If you think it LOOKS bad, wait til you here how you die from it: in severe cases, the blisters merge into sheets, which begin to detach the outer layers of skin from the underlying flesh. The skin slips off in sheets. The virus destroys the linings of the throat, the stomach, the intestines, the rectum, and the vagina, and these membranes disintegrate. Fatal smallpox can destroy the body's entire skin -- both the exterior skin and the interior skin that lines the passages of the body.
The real reason it's so bad though, is that while most diseases are highly contagious but mild, (the common cold) or deadly but hard to catch (HIV) smallpox kills about 1 in 3 people who catch it, but can be spread very easily through the air.
