How much do you think GT5 will sell in the end? I think around 11 million. With GT5:P included, GT5 will have sold around 16 million.

A little over 11.5 million... over GT4 and the second best selling GT ever.

GT Academy has captured the imagination of many Gran Turismo fans. It is exciting to watch what Lucas Ordóñez, Jordan Tresson, Jann Mardenborough and Bryan Heitkotter in the USA, are achieving in their new racing careers with Nissan.

People can now see that it is possible to make the switch from being a fast gamer to become a real racing driver. We wanted to mark the tremendous success of GT Academy with the very latest version of GT5.

About the updates...

Hi RemyX-1988,

All updates (up to Patch 2.07) are on the disc (including the data for the DLCs, of course.)

This means that with this edition you don’t have to go through the entire download process again, you just pop the disc in and decide how much you want to install: it’s all in there!

Hi kit-tiger,

You are essentially correct, the only content not included in this edition is the “Twin Ring Motegi Pack” recently released. I am sure you will agree it’s still a nice offer!

For your other questions, I can’t say anything more at this stage, but if I were you I would keep an eye on the official website… 

It's a better and more complete version them XL or Spec II.

Now the 16GB PS3 can play GT5 without troubles.

You should have know that this wasn't ever going to come to pass. GT is Sony's biggest franchise and the largest, most popular driving / racing sim in the industry. GT5 even brought some newcomers, like myself and though it's still got a ways to 10 million, it will cross it.


hehe yep :D I just love how it's one game after another....GT,. uncharted, heavy rain. With GT I think people just don't understand how it sells long term. I feel sorry for ethomaz...he had to debate for god knows how many pages with some people about it

Great news! I hope they also release this in Japan and other regions. I'm also hoping that they bundle the game in Japan during the holiday season...

This has been a crazy gen. Some predictions were outrageously optimistic, others desperately negative. What I've learned is to look at trends, brand power, and word of mouth as the best indicators of how to make a predicition. Most of the big PS3 exclusives shattered expectations (we won't bring up the one that I mainly hung solo on for some time ), but one thing was always certain in my mind - GT5 would be one of the most underestimated titles all gen (mind you, it still has no universal, constant bundle like GT4 had in the same time frame).

This Academy Edition should do great over there, bundled or not.


Yeah I hope they announce it for NA too. Sales here won't be anywhere near the Europe ones but still could move quite a few copies. But yeah crazy gen indeed. Sony must be happy to see the strength of the franchise going into next gen, despite having a much smaller user base this time around. Bodes well for the next GT as well

what do you reckon? GT6 or GT6 prologue?
