Forums - Sony - Vita dead? Its just waking up

Vita will be the best handheld ever

This may come as a shock to some, but PS Vita does have games coming out for it later this year. Many have slated Sony and the device for it’s lack of games, but with around 40 titles already on the system and at least 20+ more to come before the end of the year, I think that the Vita is unfairly criticised.

I’m pretty sure most of the criticism the device is receiving is probably down to Sony rather than the Vita itself. Sony certainly didn’t do itself any favours with its poor E3 showing, instead opting to concentrate on Wonderbook, rather than the handheld.

Sony, it seems, immediately regretted that decision, with Worldwide Studios chief Shuhei Yoshida saying after the show that the company “could have spent more time – probably should have” showing off the games coming out this year. On the bright side, the hardware giant does have the opportunity to make up for this with its gamescom press conference next month – and you can bet it won’t make the same mistake again.

Unannounced titles at gamescom could include the widely rumoured Medal of Honor and possibly even some form of Monster Hunter title, while those of a more hopeful nature will be desperate for a new game from the legends that are RockStar Games.

Personally I’d love to see a western style RPG on the system and a date for the long awaited PSOne support, although it remains to be seen what Sony has up its sleeves.

Then there is the promise of a more Vita centred Tokyo Game Show from Sony and of course, the Japanese event -PlayStation Heaven, which we are told will take place soon. This is likely to include Japanese-centric titles, though that doesn’t mean we won’t see them over here (Soul Sacrifice was revealed during the last event).

So yeah, things are looking good for PS Vita at the moment, although if Sony fails to deliver at gamescom then, once again, we’ll have to put up with the “Vita is doomed” merchants.

While we wait for gamescom to arrive, I’ve compiled a list of the PS Vita games we can expect to see before the end of 2012, I’ve probably missed a few, but if I have simply post them below and i’ll add them in for you.

Anyway, I think it’s a pretty good list and I’m excited to see what else Sony comes up with for the system for this year and beyond.

The Vita is a fantastic machine and I for one am glad it exists.

I find it weird that people think it has a weak holiday line up when said lineup includes and exclusive AC and COD. Doubly so if the GT vita rumors turn out true.

Ask me about being an elitist jerk

Time for hype

it's already the best handheld ever, no amount of Mario will change that but just like with the ps3 and psp it's take time before other people figure it out, until then I say just enjoy it

Madden and Assassins Creed next for me

There seems to always be this need to wail on certain consoles for not realising their potential straight away. It happened with the PS3, it happened with the 3DS, it's happening with the Vita.

I have no doubt things will change, they always do. Whether smartphones eat too much into a portable PlayStation's market remains to be seen, but I don't doubt Sony are going to get some amount of success out of this machine. People have already bought it, it has games coming, if they integrate it better with cross play/remote play/controller for PS3/4 then it will sell even better.  And most of all, it's just a fantastic piece of hardware.

So yeah, decent article & I agree.

P.S. Welcome back Turkish.

1 word: Gravity Rush

Best game of the year along with Journey so far.

There is something wrong with me...I'm not into hand consoles anymore.Well I just bought Psp go for cheap to play FF Tactics and other good old PSP games that I have played years ago..
I think I wait for white Vita to come and some good old sequels from PSP.I'm not interested on those new titles since well I have frikkin ps3 with enough games still yet played.I dunno.Aliens.
Call of duty is interesting one, even tho I'm not that big fan.

3 words: That wasn't one word.

Best game goes to Xcom so you're wrong anyways.

Half agree. It's the best handheld ever hardware-wise, no doubt. But when it comes down to games? It still needs to prove itself. The future looks very promising though.

yes, the vita is toast. they didnt say shit about it at e3, because there was shit to talk about. i have a vita, so i can say that. yes.

, im pissed at sony for letting nintendo kick their fucking asses. even konami said that the 3ds is the most exciting portable machine out right now. if you dont think that matters, you are as dumb as sony thinks you are. the 3ds, when it was $250, sold loads more than the vita. and that was when the 3ds had zero games..... what gives?????? bottom line, the vita, and a nearly bankrupt sony, are in fact in huge trouble. if anyone has any more questions, ill be here all weekend. lol. let the flames begin.
