I've joined, but ti may be a while till I can play because my internet is down and I'm using a dodgy bt hotspot that cuts out every half hour.

Well, it will eventually I'm sure, as a full game. But it'll be a while since it's still a mod in alpha. Rocket (guy who created it) works for the dev that made ARMA II and is making ARMA III, and he said there's plans for a bigger team to work on DayZ on the ARMA III engine and release it as an expansion or even a full game, but if I had to guess I'd say that's about 2 years away from happening, so don't hold your breath.

I'll either buy it on the last day of the Steam summer sale at 20% or sooner if it's a flash sale or spotlight deal.

I feel it's one of those funny cases where the mod is more successful then the game.

Well got the game 40% off... now i just need to find the time to DL the mod and install everything and play.

damn i would love to have that but i bought already some stuff on steam and since my internet is so super slow i have to download it at a friends house and this would be really too much then^^ would have to download 50gb or so at his house and he doesn't have super fast internet, only ok internet. don't want to camp there lol
