Did you read the last sentence? I said I may buy this slim PS3 towards the end of this gen the same way I bought a slim PS2 towards the end of its life cycle. It's not that hard to understand; I only wrote two sentences. Anyway, here's my latest response (scroll above):

I actually like the new design way better than the old "slim".

First the shape and front look better. I don't think its ugly at all. It looks unique and the "Atari" Edition is really interesting. I would seriously buy that.

I think there will be variations of the top sooner or later.

Hm, I want the pricing to be something like:

16gb - $149-169
250gb - $199
500gb - $249

Prices cuts all around!

But my gut tells me the pricing will be more like:

16gb - $199
250gb - $249
500gb - $299

Thus improving the value of the two current SKUs while achieving a new, lower price point with a new SKU.

However, if their intent is to keep Nintendo from gaining any significant momentum with Wii U, they may go with the former pricing scheme.

If they weren't releasing a 16gb SKU, I'd say it's a given that they'd go with $199/249 price points for the other two SKUs. And slimming down the console is intended to cut costs, so it's certainly feasible that the two current SKUs could get a $50 cut.

No one thinks that Sony may not drop the price this year? I think the remodeling alone will be hugely impactful.
