PS mobile dev kits are free and they will be on a home console, most likely PS4 but there is an effort towards PS3. Sony could beat this to market. Though OUYA has some decent specs that will top PS Mobile, being only an Android console means it won't have the high end games we will see next gen while the PS4 will have that and an open mobile development space. PS already has an install base. OUYA is making it seem like they are one of a kind when they are not, pinning themselves against a closed console market slightly demonized. Very unique and aside from Sony, no one has brought mobile development platforms to a home console yet.

Completely wrong.

1) By the time PS4 launches late 2013 Android and iOS will be playing the exact same console games due to their rapid increase in hardware specs.

2) Additionally OnLive streams all the same games and is available on either platform.

3) Android products can already sync with any bluetooth controller, so the TV connected products will offer the same 3rd party environment as any console.

I put this all in my other threads throughout this year and I think the response this kickstarter got proves there is interest.

Side note... Androids install base is bigger than PS... maybe not game specific, but that's arguable and likely to shift by next year.

it's getting nearly 1000 dollars every 15 seconds, damn

yeah but i would say only because it has this limited "you get it guaranteed at release" with not many remaining anymore. so it won't end with 1 billion or so in 29 days.^^

1. I doubt the hardware specs will be on par with eachothr by that time. Sure tech is getting smaller but the size also presents limitations, more room for tech will provide the advantage.

2. So it can cloud game. Probably everyone will incorporate that eventually. Internet infrastructure is the obstacle.

3. This is unrelated from OUYA isn't it? Why release OUYA if that is the case?

Android devices have different hardware limitations, early devices will dissolve from the install base. Even a cloud solution is limited by wireless limitations. OUYA is it's own device, existing Android devices on the market do not factor in, only the available titles on the Android market. At some point the software will have to advance and lose the install base.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

I have to ask, why OUYA? What a terrible name. Atleast with Wii there wasn't any question over how to pronounce it. OUYA is not pleasant to look at or speak even.

This is a really successful kickstarter. WIll I be buying one? Probably not, as a home console for portable games probably won't mesh well.

It's not for portable games. It's a console for console games. Just because it can run some portable games doesn't mean it's the only thing it does.

This is incredibly interesting to me, and I'm not even sure if I like it or not. I am curious to see what's going to happen with it though. Honestly, the talk of smartphones and tablet gaming these days is scaring me a lot, and I have a pretty great smartphone as well.

I guess i'm scared of change :p. I'm not saying smartphone/tablet gaming WILL beat out home consoles, just the idea itself doesn't sit well with me. Tbh I kind of want things to stay the same and just have it be the big three duking it out, or four if Sega ever gets back in (lololol).

woah are they serious? they "only" had 10k of these 99 dollar packages and when they reached it they just increased it to 20k? no clue how you call that in english, maybe "fake shortage" to increase the interest and to sell more at the beginning because people think if they wait to long they won't get it anymore. and as more they sell at beginning then as more attention it will get because of high numbers and with that they will sell even more^^
