Former RARE composer - Microsoft 'f@#$ed' RARE over, ruined the company

Coming from former RARE composer, Grant Kirkhope...

"I think Rare have completely f#@$ed themselves. And - it isn't their fault; it's Microsoft's fault. They have completely ruined that company, and it makes me cry every day of my life."

You can check out the comments directly from Kirkhope in this video interview linked here. The comments come up at the 2 hour, 11 minute and 35 second mark.

They fucked themselves = it is Microsoft's fault...... ???

Just saying what the majority of people have been saying for Years.

I was holding out for Rare, but I've really lost hope. Maybe next gen will have some surprises? Hopefully not KS 3.... :(

I won't purchase their future games unless it's really worth it.

Everyone needs to play Lost Odyssey! Any opposition to this and I will have to just say, "If it's a fight you want, you got it!"

CONTROVERSY? Well interesting that's for sure.

Funnily enough Rare is doing better than before financially.

Also, what the *insertrandomletters* does a composer know about the whole picture...

i just wonder why many say that. i mean, i don't really believe microsoft said them how to make banjo nuts and bolts or kameo. and i don't believe they said "the next perfect dark has to have such another style compared to the n64 game". they maybe forced them to make kinect stuff (and kinect sports is very beloved by kinect players) but the rest before kinect? and the games like kameo and viva pinata are still good, just not brilliant anymore

but yeah, they were much better to n64 time that's true. the question is, didn't they make so good games anymore because microsoft fucked them up or because microsoft didn't fuck them enough to make better quality games like nintendo maybe did with them.

i don't really know, i just wonder why he says that and can't explain why. i mean, if microsoft would have fucked them up he should explain what microsoft did to rare to make worse versions of banjo and perfect dark. at least if i would know that microsoft fucked them up i would explain it and not only "it is so" without explanation.

was he fired early on in MS ownership per chance?

No, he was working on Nuts and Bolts through 2008.

One can't doubt his talent either given the BK/BT and Perfect Dark scores.

Personally I think too many people left around the time of the acquisition, not necessarily related to it, so that they were no longer capable of the prior quality.

Sony should buy them for the lol's..

We already know that MS is largely to blame in Rare's demise, but some people will keep denying it to fit their agenda no matter how many times it's stated, it is now at the point where they are trying to discredit multiple Rare employees themselves.

It's hilarious to me and sad at the same time, but I do want more of these statements to come out both to silence those who can't accept the truth and to eventually get a full picture of what exactly went on for all these years, because I find this sort of game dev politicking interesting, especially when it comes to this company.

R.I.P. Rare.
