Well we'll see, but right now he's just pulling it out his ass.

It's because old numbers for 360 are to high.

For end september, we have 500,000 at vgchartz instead of the 430,000 said by microsoft before the launch of halo 3. So, ioi is right for the last numbers, which must be more high. And it's the old numbers (before january 2007) who must be reduced.

But, ioi never modify these old numbers.

If you want more explication, we have that:

which said 97,000 360 since begin 2007 to end august.

 

If you do 589,000-430,000, you obtain 159,000.

So, during 2007, if we trust microsoft and gfk, we must have 265,000 xbox 360 during the year (because 9,000 during begin september to the launch of halo 3)

 

But vgchartz says: 205,395 xbox 360 during 2007. It's because this that ioi has modified his numbers in this way, and not in the other you thought.

@CrazzyMan: I think that ioi can't just copy gfk numbers.

Do anyone knows for what date those sales numbers are for?

I don't think ioi just copies this data, he readjusts his numbers based on his own data while taking into account what gfk data says. So for example he might decides he was too low on holiday sales for PS3 increases the numbers up by a certain percentage. It will probably be more complicated than just changing 1 percentage, but this is just a simple example.

Actually I wouldn't mind that, I'd probably buy a $300 PS3 myself.
