Well that's a pretty stupid comment, no offence. What is that supposed to mean? |

Not going to happen with Nintendo.

Did you not read my comment? I obviously put in "(- some of the gore)".
Besides, Metroid already has some gore. Afterall, you are shooting at things.
You could just turn the volume down ... that renders pretty much any kind of jump out scare ineffective, and that is all Dead Space is, an uninspired collection of corridors and jump out scares. You could replicate the experience by paying a friend to follow you around all day and, at random intervals, scream "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" as loud as they can in your ear.
A true survival horror game should be able to scare you even with the volume set to mute ... Amnesia for example or Silent Hill are scary without the crutch of jump out scares. It also does not help that Isaac is a walking death machine in a fortified power ranger suit with an absurd number of weapons and powers that let him slaughter rooms full of necromorphs.
That is my mini rant. At least EA seems to be dropping the pretense of Dead Space being a horror game with Dead Space 3 being a balls to the wall action packed thrill ride that you can play in full coop Resident Evil 5 style.
Also, if you see a body in the middle of a corridor that will obviously just spring up and attack you then just shoot it before you walk by it. If you want to save ammo (no need with all the ammo they give you) then just throw something at it with the kinetic thingy.
I don't hate Dead Space btw ... it is a fun action game and a terrible survival horror game ... nothing more and nothing less

Enjoy your Metroid on your Wii U.....
While you can. :)

I lost track of this conversation almost completely. What is "while you can" meant to signify here, especially given that the game doesn't officially exist yet?

Don't play it at night! That's the worst time! |
If you're not playing at night you're doing it wrong.

Full disclosure:
I never played through Dead Space. I'm doing so now.
About an hour in. This game has all the stuff it needs to be legitimately scary, but I think the game would have benefited from not having musical cues every time a monster pops out of a vent. If I hear that, it's gun out, locked and loaded.
If an enemy hits me out of nowhere or I hear them right beside me when I didn't know they were there before? Then I will start screaming
Was playing this game late last night (with the stereo turned up and the lights off--an awesome experience!) when I got to the asteroid shooting scene. Stopped my fun dead in its tracks.
I'll try it again later on today but man, I hate when games do this. They make you spend hours perfecting one style of gameplay and suddenly, your progress depends on how well you do something entirely different. This pissed me off when I had to suddenly play Donkey Kong Arcade in the middle of Donkey Kong Country 64. This pissed me off when I had to drive across a frozen lake in Gears of War 2. This REALLY pissed me off when I had to drive a Warthog at the end of Halo. This pisses me off, here.
I think I'll make a thread.
