Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft: Cloud tech has been part of Xbox strategy “for many years”

VG247

Responding to Sony’s acquisition of Gaikai, Microsoft has said it’s already onboard the cloud gaming bandwagon.

“The cloud has been a key component of our strategy and a big area of investment with Xbox for many years,” a Microsoft representative told GamesIndustry.

“Through Xbox LIVE we’re serving up gaming and entertainment in the cloud to more than 40 million people. We’re committed to delivering extraordinary entertainment experiences across devices in a uniquely connected way through Xbox, Windows Phone, Windows 8 and other popular devices, and we’re looking forward to continuing to innovate in this space in the future.”

Next generation hardware rumours have consistently earmarked cloud and streamed gaming as a possible inclusion; following Gaikai’s purchase, one-time rival OnLive is not expected to remain single long.

So MS allready had the infrastructure but Sony had to blow 380 million???

Interesting

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

^^ Not really, having the servers and tech for cloud save games and stuff still isn't cloud gaming, I guess Sony just wanted to avoid the hassle and time and decided to buy the patents, tech and information which is one way to go.

Anyways, just like with Sony, I don't care, Cloud Gaming isn't even close to as good a experience as dedicated hardware offers, and won't be any time soon.

XBL does offer four times as much cloud save memory but that still isn't cloud streaming like Gakai.

Yay!!!

No, over rated and a waste of time.
