Forums - Nintendo - Problem with Wiimotes - Need Help

So both of our Wiimotes are messing up in the exact same fashion.  When I turn the wiimotes on, they will work for approximately five seconds and then just turn off.  This is not a battery issue, as I have tried a brand new set of batteries confirmed to work in other devices in both wiimotes, and they both continue to instantly turn off.  I googled this issue, and one person suggested simply removing the AC plug from the back of the Wii, which I did, to no avail.  I tried re-synching the wiimotes, but that doesn't work either as the remotes just turn themselves off after about 5 seconds.  The weirdest thing about this is that once I have turned the remote off and it shuts itself down, it will not turn back on unless I remove one or both batteries from the back of the Wiimote.  When I do, it allows me to turn the wiimote back on, but they still just turn themselves off in about five seconds.  Could someone please help me with this?  This thing is useless enough when the controllers DO work, so it is pretty frustrating not even being able to turn it on and play Paper Mario.

Yeah I have a PS3 and a move. :P

It would still be nice to be able to download the free Club Nintendo rewards my girlfriend just claimed, or to play the VC titles I have downloaded on our Wii to remember when Nintendo made consoles that don't piss me off.

Well I guess the problem would still be essentially the same. On one hand, his controller is messing up so he can't play games whereas if he bought that he wouldn't be able to play games because of a dearth of games. Either way he is unsatisfied.

Hey I have an idea, let's turn this into a console flamewar instead of answering a simple question!

He stated he Google'd it in the OP.

OT: If nothing of the basics are actually helping you, you might want to get a refund depending on how long you've had your controllers.

Or simply call Technical Service.

Btw, the Wii isn't useless.

Yeah I shouldn't have included that part, I just hate the thing and am in a pretty sour mood about having to deal with this.  I understand some people think it is great, and that is fine.

Then why'd you buy it in the first place?

OT: Are you going to call Technical Service?

It is my girlfriend's, and yes.  I did buy a Wii of my own when it first came out, because I loved my NES, SNES, N64, and Gamecube, and I (wrongfully IMO) assumed I would love the Wii just as much.  I sold mine years ago, though, before we moved in together.
