Whether a game is good or bad is 100% subjective.  There is not a way to objectively rate quality of entertainment, and there never will be.  That is the entire point.  Everything is in the eye of the beholder.

As for your whole thing about "objective professional journalists" reviewing games, I have three words for you.  KANE.  AND.  LYNCH.

It wouldn't qualify anyway, the original COD didn't have great graphics, even for the time. :p

And CoD neve had good visuals.

I dunno, COD4 looked pretty darn slick in 2007, same for MW2 in 2009.

Well some ones that come to mind that I remember being a bit disappointing but graphically pretty good:

Medal of Honor (Wasn't exciting.)
Ninja Gaiden II (haven't tried 3 yet but this just didn't do much for me.)
Bionic Commando (does not do a good service to the classic game)
Operation: Racoon City (just plain dull. not very enjoyable to me)
Fable III (While I wouldn't say this game was a complete let down I can for sure say I liked 1 and 2 better. I just didn't like the changes they made and hated the so many various collectibles in this game. There were like 5 or so different collectibles. Collectibles to me can be annoying if the developer puts too many in. One set of collectibles is fine but no more than 2 please!)

Thats all I can think of for now but there may be more.

I wonder how many people posting these games gave a good, 5-10+ hour try of the games they're slating. I'd bet less than 25%.

Anyway, Killzone 2 would be my choice. I wanted to like it because it's a Sony exclusive. But it's just not my kind of FPS at all. Beautiful, but boring.

Ninja Gaiden III it is. It looks very good but this game is torture, I mean this is the worst Hack´n Slash game I´ve ever played. Such a shame.
