Forums - Sony - PS3 'Firmware 4.20' now live! - UPDATE - New secret update found, browser related

Update:

Every time there’s a firmware update for the PS3, the list of changes and fixes seems to skip a couple of features. With the latest system software – 4.20 – going live last night we’ve been looking to see what’s new in there.

One such hidden feature is web browser related. No, it’s not a whole new browser – yet – but there has been one change that should make casual browsing a lot easier.

Sony have finally removed the pop-up that asks you about plug-ins multiple times per session and in some cases multiple times per page. Now it’ll ask you about Flash once per session, so if a site has more than one Flash advert you’ll only be prompted once and then you’re good until you quit.

It’s still Flash 9, as far as we can see, but it’s still better, right?

It was revealed Monday morning that Sony Computer Entertainment will be releasing a new firmware update for the PlayStation 3 on Tuesday, June 26th.

The 4.20 firmware update will bring a number of fixes and new functions to PlayStation 3, including wireless stereo headset sidetone functionality, multiple save copy, and give users control of setting the amount of time until the system automatically turns off.

A user on NeoGAF has posted a detailed list of the planned features and fixes of firmware 4.20:

- When the wireless stereo headset (CECHYA-0080) is connected, you can now adjust the sidetone level for microphone audio. Select [Sidetone] under (Settings) > (Accessory Settings) > [Audio Device Settings].

For those of you who use the Wireless Stereo Headset to watch Blu-ray or DVD movies on yourPS3, this system software update will also enable virtual surround sound functionality, giving you a superior audio experience.

--Off: Disable microphone audio from the headset
--1-5: Enable microphone audio from the headset

- You can now set the amount of time until the system automatically turns off. Under (Settings) > (Power Save Settings) > [System Auto-Off] you will be able amend the time for [Video/TV/Music/Photo] and for [Game/Other Features]:
Video/TV/Music/Photo - After 1 Hour, After 2 Hours, After 3 Hours, After 4 Hours, After 5 Hours, Off
Game/Other Features - After 1 Hour, After 2 Hours, After 3 Hours, After 4 Hours, After 5 Hours, Off
--o If you enabled [System Auto-Off] in system software prior to version 4.20, the selected time will be set for both [Video/TV/Music/Photo] and [Game/Other Features].
--o The default settings are [After 4 Hours] for [Video/TV/Music/Photo] and [After 1 Hour] for [Game/Other Features].

- Under (Games) > (Saved Data Utility (PS3™), you can now select multiple saved data items, and then either delete or copy them as a group.
--You cannot use [Copy Multiple] to select data that is copy-protected.
--Some saved data cannot be copied.
--The upper right corner of the screen displays:
the number of saved data items that are selected
the total number of saved data items
the total file size of the saved data items that are selected

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

It's disappointing that they haven't sorted out the PS3-Vita PSN issues yet. From the PS3, we should be able to view Vita trophies and interact with Vita users.

Actually, I like that isn't the case. Not sure why but I like the ps3trophy list, being ps3 only or at the very least, showing Vita as a seperate list would do.
