I wonder if they'll be forced into offering a hardware upgrade option once the successor is released. Can't imagine too many happy people once the new console releases half way into their contract.

Its not like the 360 is going to be useless when the next console comes. For atleast a few more years It'll still get support along with PS3.

Also, the 360 has so many non-gaming features that the hardware will be relevant for years to come.

This is nothing like past gens.

I wonder how many people will fall for this

I read this kicked off, however, I did not find it on Best Buy or Gamestop's websites.

Not sure that the retailers will be particularly stoked about offering contracts.  They now require extra staff for the 10+ minutes it takes with the prospective clients to go over terms and conditions, presumably take photocopies of drivers licenses, and take down bank account details eek.

i would never get into a monthly fee deal for a system. my phone, internet and TV is enough as it bloody is.

So if all the next-gen consoles were only to launch with a subsciption plan, you wouldn't get any of them?

Theoretically off course, as we all know that won't happen.

If something like that were to happen, I would probably end up being a PC gamer.

You seem to be under the illusion that subscription plans won't just be an option.

I'm sure buying the console outright will always be an option. For big spenders like yourself.

I would assume that most people who are buying an xbox 360 now are probably late adopters and will not be buying the next xbox on launch date. Also the current gen consoles should be supported for several years after their successors release.

I really feel like this is a horrible deal. IMO, I do not think many people will go for this deal as it will be pretty much the same amount of money just spread out over 2 years.

I don't see this helping sales much, it's a terrible deal.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

I just hope in the end, this wont be the alternative to a price cut for the xbox360, I was planning to buy it for a price cut that might happen sometime this year or next when the next gen comes around :/

While I don't know about a price-cut this year, but your best bet would be a holiday deal (These are generally pretty good nowadays) or a price-cut next year. :)

People should just wait for the Xbox 361 which is supposedly coming out later this year - and at the rate things are going, it should be selling for around $150 at most.
