What are some games you remember that were simply a joy to play? Not necessarily perfect or AAA titles, but just games you found fun to play throughout? One of my personal favorites:

I had an absolute blast playing this game back in 2004. It wasn't perfect, with its massive walls of text and some degree of backtracking, but the gameplay, humor, and ridiculous levels were great. I still fondly remember the first time I played through the Rawk Hawk chapter, with its cheesy theme music and over-the-top competitors. And of course the Doopliss theme still rings in my head. Did I mention the addictive cooking system?

What are some of your favorite games that were just pure fun for you to play?

SSX Tricky/3.

Sliding down the snow at 80mph doing some physics defying trick listening to the most epic video game soundtrack evaa. Man that was awesome. I should buy the new SSX.

Paper Mario was fun, yeah.

But it was still polished, genious and perfect.

Yakuza 3? A lot of games can fit in this, fallout new vegas as well.

The emphasis of the thread is less on whether or not a game is perfect, but more if it's just really fun to play. A game like Crackdown isn't perfect but it's really, really fun.

Woorms 4 with friends were absolute pure fun.

I think you can see a logic here.

Each level is genius. And Paper Mario TTYD is maybe one of the best games I ever played. At least the best GameCube game I played.

I had to take some form of goverment tests my last year of high school. It was like two weeks of cramming. The only thing that kept me sane was playing and completing Megaman X5 everday after a test. I got so good that I would speed run the game and finish it in less than 38 minutes. I just really had fun playing that game.

Also the ending was very memorable. I would only play as zero. <3 Megaman X5
