Forums - Gaming - HD Twin fans: What would make you buy a Nintendo Console?

A Nintendo console is a must have
Zelda alone is my reason to buy those consoles and handhelds.
My parents bought the Nintendo for Zelda 1 - They bought the SNES at first for Zelda 3.Same with the N64 and i bought the Gamecube for Wind Waker.
The Wii came also with Twilight Princess and the other game that i own AND played on the Wii is Skyward Sword.
Of course i own Xenoblade and so on but never played it on the Wii(PC in HD *cough*)

This is enough for me - I don't need more on Nintendo Consoles cause i have usually enough to play on Sony Platforms and PC.

Being someone who has not grown up playing mario/zelda/dk and other infamous nintendo IP's, I see little point myself in acquiring it for the software. The hardware would have to be very compelling, and the support - online would need to be stellar, also depending if my friends actually get it, as we tend to game together a lot, however the tablet gameplay seems intriguing. If the price is good enough I might just buy it outright!

Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.

I always assume the mature audience are those who averse to gaming before this generation and consistently throw insults to gamers. Now, when gaming became more mainstream, the same crowd has to justify their buyer's remorse and thus classified themselves as a 'hardcore' audience.

Unless you are one of those people who aims to game on the best possible platform, this means most multiplats on pc, and unless you are willing to play all genres, you are far from my definition of 'hardcore'. But to each of his own.

Uhhh?  Correct me if I'm wrong but are you saying hardcore gamers mostly play on the PC?

No. ALL hardcore gamers play exclusively on pc. F2P MMOs and Facebook games FTW.

@ MDMAlliance

The term 'hardcore' was never distinct nor prominent until this very generation, I'm not exactly sure why so I made a wild assumption. The tag 'mature' serves more than a simple discription to these gamers, it justify their hobbies which they previous deemed as childish. And I'm not implying hardcore gamers mostly play on PC, I am saying they are willing to seek for the best possible available platforms for the games they are interested in, like choosing Watchdog on Wii U if it offers what the other versions don't. That's my take on 'hardcore' audience.

@Homer

Aye, don't forget all the delicious games on windows like Internet Checkers.

Oh, okay.  I was just confused by your wording.

I think the solution is a lot simpler then this list implies.

They need to have a wide range of high quality AAA which cover the vast majority of genre's. This is something Wii didn't do and the ps3/360 did.

I don't think a single 3rd party wii game has scored above 90 on the metacritic. This should give you an idea of why only 1st party games sell on the system and 90% of nintendo's 1st party titles in the last year have been platforming or party games.

If your a fan of WRPJs, FPS, TPS, Racing Simulators, Action games, games with an emphasis on story, games which aim to convey realism, games set in sci-fi universes, then the wii was serverly lacking. And I want emphasise the importance of both quality and quantity, because some may say that the wii had "mad world" or "No more heroes" which should cater to action fans, but both games had avaerage gameplay but got attention through their unique style. Also 2 games over 6 years is not impressive.

The wii however was great for platformers and for this year JRPG's.

The U is likely ammend this problem but now it faces the fact that nintendo hasn't showed any big 3rd party content which people cannot already experience on the their HD consoles. Generally the reason why you buy a system is to pick up a new generation of games, Nintendo hasn't shown that they are going to offer this outside of 1st party games.

ive bought the last few Ninty consoles. Dont see that changing in the future. Multi-console owner for life

Not too much, I really love Super Smash Bros. Mario Kart is awesome too. I'll probably go Sony next gen again, but if I got another console, it'll be a Wii U.

Oh lol. That was just someone else who filled it out, putting the games they like in. I'm still 3 games and indie support from buying ;P

Suuuuure. We'll let you think that APM.

I'm not sure they could do much to get me to buy their system. Maybe new interesting IP's. after the last two Zelda games, its just not going to do it for me any more, and i could live my life with out ever playing another Mario game again, after all, I've been playing them for the last 25 years. Nintendo has lost their appeal to me being an older gamer, in the same way Disney has, I wont go see a Disney movie, but if i had kids i would. Just in the same way, if i had kids I'd play another Mario with them. I want more games with Adult themes. And no not just gun's and action. Real adult situations. Part of the reason Why Cathrine was my game of the year last year, it spoke to me. So until Nintendo starts speaking to me, they've lost me. And nothing coming from them seems to changing their out look. They are becoming dinosaurs, keeping to their same old, same old. 3rd party isn't going to help them much, after all we already have that with better online services. Why do we need a wii U? Answer, we don't.

You say we don't, but what about exclusives. How many exclusive IPs (new or revisited) that have themes that resonate with you, would it take to convince you? Would you also need all the multiplats? would you need the kiddie ones out?

I like you post, but I'm getting very annoyed with some of you. I provided a list, I wanted you guys to use it, lots of thought was put into the list. I'm interested in your opinion, just quote the OP, and bold those you would want.

Why does everything have to be spelled out for you guys, is snowdog the only intelligent one here?

@the cursed kiddy vs hardcore debate. GUYS, I never used the word hardcore in OP. I used kiddy, or games that appeal to adults. Now GET OVER IT and let us understand what is actually going on instead of getting stuck at the same old roadblocks ffs. @MDMAlliance, homer was hinting at the cube, you missed it. Instead of trying to look smart, let others talk a little.

End rant

OP was updated with new items. Please use it, thanks.
