I think the solution is a lot simpler then this list implies.
They need to have a wide range of high quality AAA which cover the vast majority of genre's. This is something Wii didn't do and the ps3/360 did.
I don't think a single 3rd party wii game has scored above 90 on the metacritic. This should give you an idea of why only 1st party games sell on the system and 90% of nintendo's 1st party titles in the last year have been platforming or party games.
If your a fan of WRPJs, FPS, TPS, Racing Simulators, Action games, games with an emphasis on story, games which aim to convey realism, games set in sci-fi universes, then the wii was serverly lacking. And I want emphasise the importance of both quality and quantity, because some may say that the wii had "mad world" or "No more heroes" which should cater to action fans, but both games had avaerage gameplay but got attention through their unique style. Also 2 games over 6 years is not impressive.
The wii however was great for platformers and for this year JRPG's.
The U is likely ammend this problem but now it faces the fact that nintendo hasn't showed any big 3rd party content which people cannot already experience on the their HD consoles. Generally the reason why you buy a system is to pick up a new generation of games, Nintendo hasn't shown that they are going to offer this outside of 1st party games.
