On a more serious note, I think Nintendo should pursue more "sophisticated" gameplay, not just slapping mature themes on a game. Iwata claims that the Wii U exists to create "deeper and wider" experiences. Nintendo needs to prove it.

its not me...sadly most of my friends that own an HD system think like that
funny thing is they believe they represent the hardcore audience, when theyre some of the most casual gamers out there, basically playing shooters and beat em ups non stop, nothing really deep you know....just my experience

I have nothing against PS3 or 360, nor do I have anything against FPS games. I just feel like the side that has the disadvantage I feel like defending, and something that gets praised too much should get criticized (unless it deserves that level of praise).

Hardcore gamers in my opinion don't discriminate gaming by whether it's nintendo, mature, kiddy, etc. but by the quality of the experience they have.

Just give me Mario, Zelda, Metrod, F-zero, etc and some decent third party support and I'll be happy

I always assume the mature audience are those who averse to gaming before this generation and consistently throw insults to gamers. Now, when gaming became more mainstream, the same crowd has to justify their buyer's remorse and thus classified themselves as a 'hardcore' audience.

Unless you are one of those people who aims to game on the best possible platform, this means most multiplats on pc, and unless you are willing to play all genres, you are far from my definition of 'hardcore'. But to each of his own.

Uhhh?  Correct me if I'm wrong but are you saying hardcore gamers mostly play on the PC?  

No. ALL hardcore gamers play exclusively on pc. F2P MMOs and Facebook games FTW.

I'd really love if Nintendo had some proper high end hardware, when I get a new console I'm getting it for the hardware, not the gimmick controller. I still end up getting all the Nintendo consoles due to having some cool games on them, but its been a buzzkill with the wii playing games that look like moldy turds compared to the PS3/360. But Pikmin 3... that alone makes the wii u pretty tempting.

Also, quit rehashing old series. Mario has had too many games. Give him and poor Link a rest for awhile. How about release a Luigi game and star wars game at launch. Make you console cater to 3rd party devs and don't provide too much competition so they can flourish on the platform too.
