Forums - Nintendo - Why the hell did they not put in a second analog for the redesign?

Just got my 3ds, so ill pass. No point for me, i actually prefer a smaller size, since i dont like bulky crap in my pockets

Not worth getting if you already have a 3DS the regular 3DS is still the best choice if you want to buy your first 3DS until a 3DS Lite comes out.

i dont need a second circle, i prefer it to be just an add on, ive only missed the second circle on MGS3D and maybe Revelations, not a single game recently presented would make use of it, so its pretty understandable...imo

Big part of that is because there aren't enough people that own circle pad pros to make it worthwhile for devs to use it.

Also no AC Adapter. Yes, you read that right.

Apparently you didn't, though.

It has an AC adapter - just not a redesigned one. It's going to use the same one that the DSi:XL, 3DS, and WiiU use.

But this is what I read:

"

Nintendo will release a bigger Nintendo 3DS console later this year.

In Japan it's called the Nintendo 3DS LL and offers a 4.88" top screen. The total viewing area on the top and bottom screens has increased by a massive 90%. It comes with a 4GB SD card but, to keep costs down, no AC adaptor.

3DS XL launches in North America for $199.99 on 19th August, alongside New Super Mario Bros. 2.

In Europe, 3DS XL launches on 28th July."

What is your source?

To answer the question in the OP -- either no demand, XL redesign started before Capcom wanting second stick, or both.

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

I've seen a plethora of sources (just search Google) that just say it uses the same AC adapter as the 3DS and DSi:XL, which from images is also the same one as the WiiU.

As for whether or not it would include one or make you buy one separately, it's common sense telling me that much, unless someone comes out with it direct from the Nintendo Direct. Who on earth sells an electronic device and doesn't provide you with a way to power it without buying separately? It's absolutely ludicrous. I'm 95% certain your source misunderstood something.

I'm guessing the actual presentation said something along the lines of, "In order to cut costs, there will not be a new AC adapter. The device will use the same adapter as the 3DS and DSi-XL." Which COULD be interpreted a couple ways.

I don't see a problem with the lack of power adapter. You simply buy a new 3DSXL once your current one run out of battery.

[Update: Nintendo says that the U.S. version WILL come with an AC adapter. Japan is doing their own thing over there.]

source?

Jeez I hope so. There's a lot of wet blankets over here. I'm sure it violates consumer protection laws as well, well, perhaps.

Still, not even for Japan? Man they make those for like a dollar. Times must be hard at Ninten co.
