A massive 56-page document on Microsoft's "Xbox 720" plans surfaced on the internet over the weekend, revealing some potential ideas around Kinect Glasses and more. The document itself was hosted on Scribd and removed at the request of Covington & Burling LLP, an international law firm that lists Microsoft as one of its clients.

Microsoft's team of internet investigators has also started to send takedown notices to other sites hosting the leaked document. Ihned.cz, a technology site based in Czech Republic, received a notice over the weekend from Alan Radford, Internet Investigator on behalf of Microsoft:

Microsoft has received information that the domain listed above, which appears to be on servers under your control, is offering unlicensed copies of, or is engaged in other unauthorized activities relating to copyrighted works published by Microsoft.

The takedown notice asks that the content be removed or access disabled to it. Microsoft regularly uses a team of Internet Investigators to send takedown requests to websites hosting copyrighted materials. A recent Google copyright report found that Microsoft is one of the biggest senders of takedown notices, the company has issued 448,236 URL removal requests in the past month alone. The mention of an "IEB Roadmap," Microsoft's Xbox division, appears to confirm the leaked document's legitimacy. The company has refused to comment on the leak after it revealed plans from 2010 that reference a next-generation console pegged for a 2013 release. Microsoft also discusses its Kinect 2 plans and a Fortaleza project designed to bring augmented reality Kinect Glasses to the market in 2014.

Update: Microsoft has also sent a takedown notice to Dropbox, resulting in a public sharing block of the document in question on the cloud storage service.

Late. Once its on the net, its on the net forever. I actually found quite a few slides very interesting.

This just confirms that it's true even more. $299 nextbox incoming.

Keep in mind that was their target price in 2010, based on this document.

I think they've already made some changes that may affect that price point.

Primarily, all rumors now show PowerPC CPUs vs ARM based CPUs. This is a big difference as it removes the need to have 360s CPU along with the ARM processors but the PPC CPUs cost more than ARM. There is surely other changes as various components become more of fact vs planned.

However, I do think a $299 base model is a 50/50 shot with a $379 or $399 high end model.

I may as well be reading Chinese, but thanks anyway. Yeah, they may well have changed their plans in the last 2.5 years.
