Forums - Sales - 6 PS3 Million sellers...

I'm really disappointed that R&C sales are so low. The game is just so good.

Yes, but it is not really surprising. R&C is not strictly a "hardcore" title, it is something that everyone in the family can play. I think the pricetag on both the console and the game is keeping it from its target market where it'll really take off. R&C will have a tremendous shelf life and still be selling 3 or 4 years from now at $29.99 or lower, though. It'll smash 1 million, and possibly hit 2 million, in due time, but we're talking several years down the road.

Good to see another million seller. Pro street is closer to the mark than drake but I do think drake will be next. I wouldn't mind if it was nfs since I own "almost" every game in that franchise since ps1.

So you're admitting PS3 is a failure

Nice spin, Avinash.

Except that you said "if you don't count the other failures" so it is more like him using a poorly phrased post of your.

I was gonna call you on your first post as while I see the PS3 as a failure in that it will not come any close to replicating the success of the PS1/PS2 but comparing it to the Jaguar and Virtual Boy is way too harsh as I see it fail more like the N64 failed: good hardware, plenty of good games but not enough to spark the fire and thus a step back for its maker.

As for thread about new PS3 million sellers, it is normal as just a few months ago there were only Resistance and Motorstorm which were the only one for quite a while and both are first party published (though third party developed for Resistance, not sure about Motorstorm) so it is normal for you guys to be happy about it.

@Leo:

I doubt that DMC4 will easily get 1 million sales in february on the PS3 alone as it is not exclusive anymore and the installed base of the PS3 is much smaller. It might get there eventually but it will take a while.

@krik: Given the Japanese numbers of previous DMC games and the PS3 numbers of games whose franchise was bigger than DMC in Japan on the PS2 I doubt that it will get 400k anytime soon over there. 200-300k would actually be a good result as it would put it not too far from the likes of Gundam Musou (293k), Hot Shot Golf (430k) and Dynasty Warrior 5 (371k).

The first PS3 game in Japan I expect to do really well and sel systems is GT5 or FFXIII whichever comes first. MGS is not strong enough in Japan to do it.

Well its going on a good way ... 66 % of its million sellers are 3rd party games actually :P

definitely. I named it my game of the year due to the amount of time I played it (and I got it on Christmas) and how fun it is.

on topic-

good to see some games finally getting up there. hope to see Uncharted make it next =D

No spin, you called it another failure

Fine! Here is my rephrased post:

"It is if you don't count the consoles that failed."

@Sri: That post pertained to how many million sellers there were on the PS3 over a span of a year and two months, and there were consoles, which were failures, out longer which didn't have that many million sellers, or just didn't sell that many hardware to even hint at a million seller.

Sega Master System, Atari Jaguar, 3D0, Neo-Geo, CD-i, and the obvious Virtual Boy. I don't even think the Dreamcast or the Xbox, although not a failure, had that many million sellers in the same time frame.

I know that, but when I saw your post I first thought that you were lambasting the PS3, it is only when you had your exchange with Avinash that I knew for sure that it was just a poorly written post.
