You played Vita games in a mall? That's cool. I would never have the guts to play a handheld inside a mall, especially at my age, but not even if I was 20 or 25.

Why wouldn't you?

Because it feels embarrassing and I fear that people would think I'm a nerd.

When I sit at home I think, "hey, I could do that. There's nothing wrong with gaming in public" but a few days ago I brought my 3DS to the mall and was going to check on StreetPass (where Miis meet I think lol) but as soon as I had opened the device I got the feeling that people would see my as a nerd so I immediately put it back in my pocket and I couldn't force myself to pick it up again until I was outside the mall hidden behind a wall.

are you serious? I bring my vita and play it everywhere I travel and I am 24.

Well, I am happy for you. I wish I felt like you. But don't you feel the embarrassment even just a tiny little? At least in the beginning, your first time?

Honestly, in my country (Sweden) I never see people that play a handheld in public, except for small kids (under 12). I only saw one guy do it once on the train many years ago.

No I don't feel embarrassed at all because why should I? It is just the same as everybody playing on their smartphones or Ipads. Maybe it is because I game on the Vita when I travel that I don't feel embarressed. The Vitas design is more classy I think whereas the 3ds looks more like a toy.

Yeah. When I picked up the 3DS from my pocket I felt like a picked up a toy.

Perhaps I should have bought a Vita. But Vita doesn't have Zelda.

Well it depends really. You do see ALOT of kids playing the DSi everywhere, so the fact the DSi looks nearly indentical to the 3DS can be a bit off putting it you are self conscious. With the Vita though, I have no problem playing it on the bus, train or plane when people are beside me. Actually, when I first got the Vita I was playing Uncharted on the train and  a guy sitting beside me starting talking to me and saying how great the screen was and how good the graphics were lol.

i came in hear ready to say trolololol! unfortunately, its a pretty good and unbiased review! damn you for not conforming to the vita doom train! arrrrrr

I won't buy a vita for one reason-price. It's not that I can't afford one,I just don't think it's worth it,quite yet.

Bought my Vita on release date and I still enjoy it.

Initial excitement, especially with the browser, wore off. This browser just flat out sucks.

Games were alright, only played Uncharted, Katamari, some PSP titles and a few PSN titles.

After a while I was getting a small feeling of buyers remorse, mainly because I had nothing new to really play.

Been loving it all over again ever since I got Gravity Rush and am super excited that Ragnarok Odyssey is right around the corner. Should keep me busy until Persona 4 The Golden, which should hopefully keep me busy until something else comes out before Soul Sacrifice in March.

I guess it is because the games are finally started to really come in.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

So, unable to play my PS3, I decided to go ahead and buy a PSV, despite all the doom going around. I have U:GA and GR. Without further ado, my review of PSV:

See this bit I don't really get. PSV sales have pretty much stabilised and outside of Japan PSV is selling at about 50% of 3DS, and proportionally speaking PSP is still seeing strong sales. What does this tell us? It kinda tells us that Pachter wasn't far off in saying that dedicated handheld gaming devices are going to have a much harder time of it now compared to the hey day of DS and PSP. 3DS is selling all right but it's not setting the world on fire, thus the performance of PSV needs to be considered in this context. In terms of the weekly HH sales market PSV is doing reasonably, it's just that the weekly HH sales market is smaller than people might have expected.

Relative to 3DS PSV is holding its own, the only place it's really under performing relative to 3DS is Japan, and I think if Sony needs an immediate strategy for PSV it's how to lift performance in Japan. Europe and Nth America are holding ground pretty well against the cheaper competition.

The time to worry is if 3DS sees a massive increase in baseline sales but PSV doesn't. While Nth America + Europe continue on at about 50% of 3DS then Sony is in a sustainable position. They just need to look elsewhere for over-all company proitability, because PSV isn't going to get them out of the hole.

At least PSV is making them profits from the first day. Of course, if it stops getting SW support then that'll stop at some time, but I'm confident.

I say it'll sell over 50m units at the end with a higher SW attach rate than PSP. Enough to make a tidy profit and be considered a success.

I play my Vita in the mall without an ounce of embarrassment.  That's why I bought it.  Nobody has ever made me feel awkward.  Possibly because I look like this:

*note*  Yes.  This pic WAS taken after a satisfying poop.

I know what you mean, I felt that way before, as a teenager.

If you use it a few times you realise that people really don't pay any attention to you (sad but convenient in this case, lol), you're just one among the hundreds of people they see doing different stuff. They're not even gonna remember you three seconds after they see you..

You'll get used to it, if you do it a few times and see that nothing happens you'll stop caring.

I'm pretty self conscious when wondering around in public, but I happily sit down and play games when I'm waiting.
