just curiosity

about the Vita
i tried it a couple of weeks ago and the graphics are obviously great and so buti thought the sticks were awful! seriously what were they thinking? is that difficult to make them normal sized?

Analogue sticks are still based on ball movements and bigger sticks (heads) would result in a bigger ball in the system and there's not really room.

They could do with a different measuring technique but I guess that's too expensive if it's supposed to be as accurate as the ball thing.

There seems to be a stigma is with the idea of console gaming on the go. I don't quite get it because many handhelds have been more or less exact replicas of home consoles games during the 2D era (GB & GBColor was like NES, GBA was like SNES). It's just that 3D games were never well replicated on hadhelds. Now, finally, they are.

I don't really get it, either. It's always being said that Nintendo's handheld games are "real handheld games" while Sony's are just smaller, cheaper versions of console type games, but with a few exceptions the best sellers on the DS are all things that either are on consoles or would be right at home on a console. It's even more pronounced with the 3DS, where Nintendogs is the only million seller that wouldn't really fly on a home console. The real difference seems to be that Nintendo - in addition to having insanely popular IPs - treats its handheld games with just as much respect as its console games (maybe moreso) whereas Sony has just tended to have some B-team make a spinoff for the PSP. Resistance: Burning Skies seemed to fall into this category, too, but Uncharted: Golden Abyss and Gravity Rush make me hopeful that maybe this won't be the case with the Vita.

Anyway, good review!

If you ask me, any portable game is a "handheld" game, just like how the Wii U is a "next-gen" console. You can't argue for one and not the other.

Nice review troll!!!

Second awesome thread from you tonight....you're on a roll :)

This write up actually makes me want to get it....im just worried that theres only gonna be a handful of games that i want on the system. I cant think of any must buys yet. Gravity rush maybe...

maybe i should just give in, get it and see what happens hey?

What genres do you like?

Not really into particular genres...I like anything thats good. Ive been following the official Vita thread..so i know more or less whats available on the vita also whats coming on the vita...and there doesnt seem to be much that interests me...but then again ive always been a home console gamer..never really been a portable gamer (except when i had a gameboy colour and pokemon yellow ^^)..the system still costs a lot to buy upfront, so there needs to be good software to justify that purchase...im sure though as time goes by more things will interest me and il bite :)

I was in the same situation as you but I don't regret my purchase. It's true that now there's a bit of a dry spell until after summer for me. By these holidays there will be at least a bunch of good games released.

Plus, if you didn't have a PSP or didn't get many games for it, you can download many PSP games for cheap. That's what I'm gonna do this summer.

Typical troll review.

I'm getting an iphone 4s soon (need it before college), and the games that lag on my iTouch 3G will run perfectly on the 4S, like Infinity Blade II and Modern Combat 3, NOVA 3, etc...

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

That's good to hear, but I'd like to hear reviews from neutral people who bought it day 1, to see if they still agree with their purchase now the novelty has worn off.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

How well is the cross platform play? Are you able to stream games? stream anything? How does this all work? I'm fairly surprised still went with Skype. I thought for sure, they'd go with some other VoIP provider.

If and when I finally get the Vita, I plan to only buy the WiFi version. Fuck 3G! I have my 4G phone rooted and will just use it as a Mobile Hotspot; it's cheaper in all aspect.

Haven't played anything cross-platform yet, I guess those games will come along later.

About streaming, what do you mean exactly? From your PS3 to Vita (remote play), online videos...?

Yeah, I got the wifi version too, as I'm sure did 90% of the population. I'm totally fine with it, there's wifi spots all around the place these days and it's not like you can play multiplayer with 3G.
