Forums - Gaming - Can Americans Not Handle The Sight of Their Ancestors Being Killed in Assassin’s Creed?

It's different than their previous games. The lines of good and evil were blurred in the time of AC II and its spinoffs, it was about intrigue between families where no-one was really aligned one way or another, and we've looked back historically at the Crusades as one where no-one was in the right again (brutality on all sides, modern fundamentalist Christians aren't that invested in it because it was Catholic and the Catholics have disowned it, and the Muslims weren't demonized in ACI)

In this case you're coming up to an event that is clearly loved in a black-and-white kind of way in America. I mean, there are all sorts of games out there where you kill Americans, random, sometimes innocent, Americans, so clearly there's no problem with slaying Americans as such, but if you're playing a game where you are, albeit indirectly, fighting against the American Revolution, well, i don't think that would go over well. I'd imagine the French would have a problem with an Assassin's Creed game where the main character is in the employ of the Aristocrats in 1789, assigned to massacre sans-cullotes.

I wonder how the whole issue of slavery is going to be handled in the game. Both sides promising freedom to slaves for working or fighting for them. And New York becoming a safe haven for escaped slaves during the British occupation.

I'm fine with it.

Define ancestors

Persons from whom you are descended.

I think pjams means that he, like the majority of Americans today, are not descended from individuals who were in this country at the time of this founding. Only one of my great-grandparents comes from a family that might have been around that long, the rest were under various forms of Hapsburg rule at the time.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Why do people think you need to "handle" a video game is my question. They are not real characters, so I would hope my fellow Americans wouldn't get butt-hurt over a few polygons dying.

*cough*Fox*cough*Mass Effect*etc

What is that supposed to mean? I haven't played those games so I woukdnt know.

I'm more interested in racism. A half-native american at that time would of probably got some terrible abuse, and people kept slaves. It'll be interesting to see how they handle those themes, or if they handle them at all.

what are you talking about, Fox has always been bad lol.

OT: I don't mind it at all. I remember reading an article about different settings and timelines they could use and someone posted, 9/11 would be a good one. That would never end well lol.

What the hell are you talking about? Every single CoD game is showing Americans getting slaughtered so why is AC3 any different? I think its the British who are but hurt over the fact that connor killing them and not another group of people. I didn't see anyone bitching when Ezio killed spainards or the french or middle eastern people. People are idiots plain and simple and this "controversy" is just another way to prove that.

Why do people always assume I write the articles I post?

CoD games show Americans + British slaughtering Russians mostly. It's always the Russians

Have you seen your AI friends in a CoD game they get slaughtered respawn get slaughtered respawn and rinse and repeat until you beat the game. Sorry about that i thought you wrote it lol.
