Forums - Microsoft - How much lower will Microsoft let the sales margin between PS3 and 360 Dip before they cut the 360's Price in the US?

Just holding out until aug/september. Its been 4 years and still no price cut.

MS just wants to beat Sony until the next gen arrives. After that, as far as MS and MS fans are concerned, thats when itll be ok for PS3 to overtake 360. A hollow victory.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

I don't know whether I want a new console right now. What is the problem with the current gen? Make games, make money. It does not mean you have to make money through hardware.

There's not enough Ram in the current gen consoles to last much longer. If you saw E3 this year, you'll see that most of the devs are all ready to move on.

I don't think microsoft cares too much about ps3 sales

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

Microsoft probably don't care about the sales gap at all (or at least they shouldn't).

It's all about profits.

This

As long as they're selling more games per month (which they consistently do) - they probably wouldn't bother.

That is where the money is at. Razors/Razorblades.

Tbh i wouldnt put too much stock in a lot of reported numbers right now. Hell MS is still claiming they sold the most consoles worldwide last year and neither Ninty or Sony are denieing it. Not to mention acording to shipment data the 360 is undertracked. IDK exactly whats goin on but MS seem plenty happy with overall console sales. Enough they havent dropped price in years

This. They're also more conerned with profit then sales. When was the last time the 360 had a price drop? They probably have more "room to move" so to speak then what sony does. Expect a massive drop before the holiday period on top of the bundles.

If Sony's rumored new PS3 "super slim" launches at $199 or even $149, then look out. But the only people who really care about the so-called "lead" is the fanboys.

This gen is a wash for the HD twins.

Looking at the most recent sales data, I noticed that the sales margin between PS3 and 360 has dipped down to 2.1 million consoles, and at the rate things are going Sony could have that margin down to under the 2 million sales mark for the first time ever in the next few weeks.  So, I think an ovious question would be how low do you expect Microsoft to let the sales margin between 360 and PS3 did before they cut the 360's price again?

The 360 is outselling the PS3 in the United States.  Why would they cut prices here?

As of now, this is near end game.  They are likely riding things out, waiting until the WiiU hits, and seeing its price point, before deciding on what to do.  The 360 isn't only facing the PS3 now.

I think if sales at the end of the year become less then 2 million (so after Microsoft gets it's biggest boost), then MS would drop the price on the 360, but not substantially. MS want's to release a next gen console saying they currently produce the best selling HD console.
