Looking at the most recent sales data, I noticed that the sales margin between PS3 and 360 has dipped down to 2.1 million consoles, and at the rate things are going Sony could have that margin down to under the 2 million sales mark for the first time ever in the next few weeks.  So, I think an ovious question would be how low do you expect Microsoft to let the sales margin between 360 and PS3 did before they cut the 360's price again?

Microsoft probably don't care about the sales gap at all (or at least they shouldn't).

It's all about profits.

Why did you specify the US? That's where the margin is increasing.

Besides, I don't think Microsoft truly cares if the PS3 passes the 360. If it does pass the 360 & win this generation. It'll only be by a few million units. I don't think MS truly cares about a few million units enough to cut their price & thus their profits.

Both will get price drops before holidays.

lol why should they cut the price to stop ps3 coming closer in total sales? it's not as if they have something from beeing in front of ps3 this late in the gen (or at beginning as well as long as it isn't too much). they only would burn money to do everything to be in front of ps3. but we should see a pricecut anytime soon because of the horrible sales numbers the industry has atm.

I don't know, I think the PS3 could have a 5 million lead by the time the next consoles come out if things continue as they are.  It wasn't that long ago when the margin was 4 million.

I think they are just happy how well it is selling in the US, and how many games it sells every month. I don't think the price will drop until they start seeing a big drop in hardware sales, that is until the holidays when the Wii U comes out. They may drop the price then to get more people to buy their existing hardware over Nintendo's new hardware. Sony is likely to drop it's price as well in lieu of the Wii U.

Well, Molyneaux said in an article posted here today that Microsoft still constantly watches what Sony does, and I think that Microsoft must surely have some pride in them from their early success this gen. I think they'll cut it by early September and quite possibly by the middle of August.

plus tell me how do you think they will close the 2.1 million gap and get to 4 million over in a year.... they don't even have a million more sales this year... and at he current of 20k more weekly which won't hold during holiday season especially with halo 4 which will push consoles as usual.. they still need 10 month and a half to close the gap.... that's the same bs we had 3 years ago people saying ps will close the gap.... it ain't happening yet.... i maintain my 2007 prediction ps3 won't close the gap before next gen.... i still have my left nut on that bet...

Tbh i wouldnt put too much stock in a lot of reported numbers right now. Hell MS is still claiming they sold the most consoles worldwide last year and neither Ninty or Sony are denieing it. Not to mention acording to shipment data the 360 is undertracked. IDK exactly whats goin on but MS seem plenty happy with overall console sales. Enough they havent dropped price in years
