Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft not attending Gamescom and TGS

Only means they couldn't secure a deal with SquareEnix for Versus13 or a Kingdom Hearts Game.
So no reason for them to even attend there cause they wouldn't have any interesting things to show at all.

Don't worry, they still have plenty of time to announce Versus for Xbox at E3 2013, E3 2014, E3 2015, E3 2016...

What was announced in Gamescon last year?

People say it's big, but I don't remember it being big - especially with new things.
Someone educate me, please

Not positive, but I know that this is the show Sony used to unveil the PS3 slim.

I believe Gamescom is also where Sony first showed Escape Plan and the PS3 price cut. Other than the price cut however it was fairly Vita focused, which is what I expect for this year's event as well.

Gamescom seems to be more focused with hands-on stuff for the attending crowd and some hardware announcements rather than full blown reveals for new titles, even though they do sometimes make an appearance.

That's what I imagined it to be. Yet, people say all the time this is like an e3-like event.

Personally, I'm hyping more Game Heaven and Capcom Summer Jam than this.

So MS gives up in Europe (except UK) and Japan?

yup,just like nintendo

MS is at a disadvantage in Europe and Japan.

Game Shows like TGS and gamescom are important to have a presence, to make announcements. If you leave them, you possibly show your disinterest. Some people (like me ;) ) will coonstrue it this way.

in Japan yes but not europe

on 3rd place doesn't mean it's a flop

and do you really think it's still important?look at E3

Not sure about 2012, but in 2011 E3 has 46,800 attendees.

Gamescom 2011 had 275,000 attendees.

They aren't exactly the same.

E3 is an electronics convention. Gamescom is a games convention.

Not according to what I have seen the last couple of years.

Even more reason to announce new games, no? Like I said, I can remember the games announced at Captivate last year but not at gamescom.

But I agree in one thing, if they announce price-cuts it could be big - even if this belongs in a electronics convention not a games convetion, like you said.

not important. gamescom is huge with hundret thousands of gamers but if they can see some videos and play some demos they can play some weeks later on xbox live isn't something important. and people who still don't have a console won't go to a gamescom...i live not much away from cologne and i still didn't have the interest to go there. i don't want to wait so long to play few minutes halo 4. i love halo but if i can play halo and forza or not doesn't change that i will buy them.

it's not as if i could play next gen games or games still not announced there. someone above me said sometimes sony used it to announce price reduction or slim. maybe microsoft used it to announce a priceut or so as well but if they announce it there or on the internet, what would this change?
