Forums - General - The Guitar thread

This thread is for all the musician or musician wanna be's out there. Post if you own a guitar, what kind it is, how good you are, how long you been playing, your inspirations, what songs you can strum/pick. Let's chat about the most popular instrument in the world (and how many chicks you got because of it ;) )

I play accoustic, I just bought some shitty guitar from Wal-mart 4 years ago, as long as it works that's all that matters to me. I taught myself to play. Recently I been strumming a lot (been stricly picking before), and I learned a lot of new songs. I can pick, a FFVII song lol, Blackbird (it's the song I can pick the best so easy and sounds so amazing), intro to stairway to heaven of course, classical gas (I can pick 3/4 of the song), house of the rising sung (kinda struming) and a few others that I forget, a lot of little popular guitar licks that I didn't bother finishing. I can strum and sing all of Heart of gold, wish you were hear (including the picking parts), Sounds of silences, hurt (johnny cash version), pagliaro, some beatles, stones and some others.

A friend of mine plays the guitar amazingly and when we were young a bunch of us would get together get drunk and this guy would bring his guitar and play these awesome songs that everyone loved, that and all those old guitarist from the 70's and 80's inspired me to play, so glad I learned as little as I did, feels so good playing a great song well.

I consider myself Beginner/Intermidiate, I can only play in front of certain people.

No guitar players in VG Chartz?

I own quite a few guitars, but this one here is my absolute favorite:

I can play pretty much any song there is, including Through the Fire and Flames (after sore hands and weeks of practice). I don't play it perfectly, but I guess I get about 9/10 notes right at the very least.

Number of chicks after me as a result: > 9000

I consider myself a true Guitar Legend.

been playing 8 years or so, but on and off inconsistently except for the last year or so when I have been out of a job and after college.

Definitely a great thing to learn a complex hobby like that. There will always be an outlet for release in your life, plus you look at life challenges in a whole new way since playing an instrument well is a big challenge in itself.

The kind of guitar I play is irrelevant to me, they're all the same to me but that's cool if someone disagrees, but it's just not a factor for me really.

Whats your guys inspiration?

I was a vocalist. It's a lot less work and you get more chicks that way.

I play a Schecter C-1 Hellraiser.

I've been playing consistently for about 2 1/2 years. I want to eventually get another guitar as EGM 81/85 pickups are great for playing metal, but they aren't very good at playing much else.

Nice, I always wanted to play electric guitar, a buddy I know said he was selling his stratocaster, amp all the cords and case for $500 he said he paid over $1500 for everything but just never plays it. If I could afford it I'd buy it!

Sounds like a good deal. You should find out what amp and stratocaster he's selling, so you know exactly how much of a good deal you're getting.
