PES 6 was the last excellent PES games. After that the series took a nosedive.

The big overhaul of Fifa was made with Fifa 06

Maybe on the PS2 since I don't know that, but on next gen consoles it was definitely FIFA 08.
Even on Metacritic you can see a 10 points jump.

Yeah, compare 05 with 06, the game mechanics are so different, the game was no more fast paced arcade. Even the engine was different, Fifa featured that bloom effect with 06. Damn I miss PES4 and 5, I played those games so much that the discs dont work anymore lol. I really love Fifa 08, it had a great soundtrack

pes6 was good on ps2 but aweful on ps3

FIFA has made too big a gap from PES that PES will never catch up. Konami don't have the money to come close.

FIFA is absolutely amazing though. Hard to fault.
