Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 concentrates this year on total realism while FIFA uses Kinect and concentrates on reworking a new defensive/attacking system with better AI.

PES 2013 still has lots of catching up to do. FIFA will be the clear winner once more. Maybe Konami should skip a year to ensure more gameplay improvements.

FIFA has been a better game series than PES for the last few years. 1990s and early 2000s PES/ISS was a much better game than FIFA. In the last few years FIFA has flown past PES in terms of quality, graphics and game play. FIFA is a fully licensed football game with all the official names of players and clubs.

I used to be a PES guy, back when it's gameplay was superior. But now? FIFA is just in another league, gameplay is fluid, more realistic... PES looks a little better overall but the animations in FIFA are way ahead. I think the only area PES tops it in is "master league," it's more in-depth and the youth and development features are brilliant, but other than that it's not got much going for it compared to FIFA, especially if you wanna play online.

Fifa was the superior football game for the las 3 years. Even hardcore PES fans are admitting it.

PES 6 was the last excellent PES games. After that the series took a nosedive.
FIFA on the other hand went great with FIFA 08.

What exactly is noteworthy about Fifa using Kinect? Its only on 1 platform and its not even the franchises top platform.

I have been a PES fanboy till PES5, nobody will deny that PES had total superiority over Fifa till PES5. PES was a true football sim. After that, the series went downhill and became arcade. Ironically at the same time Fifa transformed from arcade to realisim from Fifa 06.

I dont see how they will fix the franchise, just make a proper sequel to PES5.

The big overhaul of Fifa was made with Fifa 06

Maybe on the PS2 since I don't know that, but on next gen consoles it was definitely FIFA 08.
Even on Metacritic you can see a 10 points jump.

Yeah, compare 05 with 06, the game mechanics are so different, the game was no more fast paced arcade. Even the engine was different, Fifa featured that bloom effect with 06. Damn I miss PES4 and 5, I played those games so much that the discs dont work anymore lol. I really love Fifa 08, it had a great soundtrack
