Forums - Gaming - Anybody else worried about the lack of reviews for Lollipop Chainsaw?

I still ended up giving the game 8.6/10 though! :D

Bad badgenome! Nier got under 70%. It is worthless and shall never have a sequel. Joystiq gave it a 0% and refused to review it because it was so bad.

;-; ow my feelings. Joystiq's 'review' is still to this day utterly shameful. I actually entirely stopped reading their site when they did that.

Haha, I remember that! They couldn't review it because the guy couldn't figure out how to catch a fish or something, right?

Yes. When you get the fishing rod and have to go fishing. The guy's house is next to a beach and the reviewer assumed that was the right beach. So he posted a video showing how impossible to catch a fish it was. Then almost immediately someone pointed out that the entire time he was there that there was a BIG RED X on his map showing him where to go.

He panicked and said that having a big red x on the map to show where a quest needs to be done (something done throughout the game) is bad. And that it was bad game design because despite this quest marker players would assume the closest beach was the right one to fish at. Which is simply mind boggling. The game shows you to fish at a specific beach, he ignores this and tries fishing at the closest one anyway. Then blames it on the game and says it doesn't deserve a review and so get's a 0.

@d21 I'm not condeming reviews. I'm condeming the assigning of a score which seems to be the main thing players focus on. You didn't say you didn't want to spend $60 on a game light on content etc, but that you didn't want to spend it on a game that got less than 6/10. Maybe that was simply you using shorthand instead of writing what you meant. However I still feel it shows an attitude of the almighty score being the most important thing.

If you really want wait a few weeks/a month and I can guarantee Lollipop Chainsaw will be less than $60.

What 0 ? I don't see him giving Nier a score at all. Sounds fine to me if he doesn't want to continue the review for whatever reason.

He refused to review it and stated that the team that made it didn't have souls and playing it would make him put a tv through a window. I would say that's a 0. Simply because he didn't enter a number in doesn't change the content of the review. Refusing to do something is an incomplete which is a 0. If at work you had a presentation to do but got stuck a little in and just decided to not bother your boss doesn't go ''Oh yea well good effort anyway!''

Not only this but he refused to do his job because he couldn't follow a quest marker. When the quest marker was pointed out to him he made out that it was the game's fault and that he still refused to review the game because of his own mistake. He should have been fired. Seriously it was a joke. He was given a game to review for his job, then couldn't be bothered to do it because he got stuck and said he had a private life (which you should be reviewing the game as part of your job, not in your private life), then when it was pointed that he was stuck because of his own mistake still refused to do his job.

That isn't fine in the slighest.

I'm actually amazed SE didn't flip out. They provide him with a free copy of the game to review. He is then too lazy to do his job and bashes the game stating that it is one or two generations behind in design and so bad that he refuses to play it.

Turkish says and I'm allowed to quote that: Uncharted 3 and God Of War 3 look better than Unreal Engine 4 games will or the tech demo does. Also the Naughty Dog PS3 ENGINE PLAYS better than the UE4 ENGINE.

But officially it just counts as "no score given" instead of zero stars.
You criticize that the game got a Metascore below 70, but Joystiq didn't have to do anything with that.

Be thankful the reviewer was fair enough to deny the game a score instead of slapping it with zero stars.

Sorry those were separate points, perhaps that wasn't clear. Joystiq didn't impact metacritic but anyone who only reads joystiq will have come away with the impression that Nier was worthless.

Also the reviewer wasn't fair in the slightest. The fair thing to do would have been to give it to someone else who can actually do their job. Or own up to your mistake, restart the game and try again. He was in fact only 4 hours into the game. I have already stated why else. In any other industry you would either lose your job or be severely reprimanded. But it's game 'journalism' so oh lol it doesn't matter.

Yep. That was the first review I read, and it left me second guessing the game for a while because he made it sound so intolerable.

Then I was like, "LOL, Joystiq." And I bought it anyway. And it ruled.

I think lack of reviews due to E3 burnout

This Lollypop has a lot of personality... hopefully good gameplay in addition to the quirky humor and style you can expect from Suda51

gamepro gave it 7.8/10

9.5!

Got it! I'll be playing it later on today. The girl at Gamestop went insane when I bought it. Started going on and on about Suda51 and free-flow combat and Shadows of the Damned. I didn't know how to react so I got the hell out of their. I wasn't prepared for an impromptu video game discussion.
