Personally, I love this movie. It's second only to Goldeneye as far as Bond movies, IMHO.

Brosnan is my favorite Bond, Connery is definitely second, and Dalton is easily the worst (never seen Lazenby).

You mentioning every Bond actor but Roger Moore in your post is blatant trolling...

I have a question.  Was GoldenEye the first James Bond movie you ever saw?  Most Brosnan fans seem to be that way because he was the Bond that they were introduced to first.   By the way, I did like GoldenEye but this wasn't very good at all.

I didn't mention Craig either, simply because I was noting my favorites and least favorite.  Moore and Craig fall somewhere in the middle for me (I don't care for either as James Bond, although I do really like Craig as an actor).

To answer your question, no, Goldeneye wasn't the first Bond movie I've ever seen at all, just the first that I loved.  I like James Bond, but I'm not a HUGE fan of the series.  I agree, though; it seems that a lot of Brosnan fans started watching with Goldeneye.  It also seems like many huge Bond fans don't consider Brosnan to be the best Bond.  Where does he fall on your list of Bond actors?

I've liked Pierce Brosnan since Remington Steele, and I remember always thinking that he would make a great James Bond.  Then it was announced that he was indeed to be cast as Bond, and I believe he quit RS just to do it, and was then screwed over at the last minute when they decided to cast Dalton for the next two movies instead (which was just as well IMO, since I didn't like TLD or LTK anyway).  Regarding Brosnan's films, I like Goldeneye the best, followed by TND and DAD.  But I really didn't like TWINE at all, despite the magnificent Robert Carlyle (plus, Denise Richards is the single worst Bond girl ever, IMO).

Disagree. Tomorrow Never Dies was awesome for me! Especially the car scene in the garage when he controls it from his phone. And a pretty decent story, and lots of action.

A lot of people like the car scene.  I described in detail why I didn't.  We can agree to disagree on that.

I can understand you liking the action in the movie, but the story might be the worst in the entire series.  A Rupert Murdoch wannabe creates the news in order to get it first?  C'mon.  It doesn't get any lamer than that for a Bond film.

Haha well it may be lame but at least it's more original than Russians with a bomb!...or the Daniel Craig movies, based a round a poker game and oh no if he loses he'll be financing terrorism! And whatever Quantum of Solace was about...I don't even remember, saw it in theatres and never watched it again.

I think I'm just biased towards the Brosnan movies since they're newer and a bit more action oriented than the older ones. I look forward to your review of Die Another Day haha I liked that one...but my foresight is telling me you most likely hated it.

Edit: Shit I forgot about The World is Not Enough being next. I guess I have to wait 2 weeks

Originality doesn't matter as long as the story isn't lame.  The story in TND is lame.  Very lame.  The older movies had a lot of action also.  They just happened to have a story as well.  And about the lame story in Casino Royale...  It is a modern take on Ian Fleming's original novel and is pretty faithful to it in a lot of ways.  A guy that finances terroism with a gambling problem is actually a lot more believable than most of the stories.  That original novel has spawned over 40 sequels and over twenty movies so it couldn't have been that bad, could it?

Marks, you're a smart guy.  Earlier in this thread I said that this was Brosnan's 2nd best Bond film so you tell me if I like DIe Another Day or not.

I will let everyone know exactly how I feel about Pierce as Bond tomorrow in my The World Is Not Enough review.

Well on the flip side of what you said (originality doesn't matter if the story is lame)...faithfulness doesn't matter if it's being faithful to something that is lame :)

Hahaha and yeah I know full well you didn't like DAD...I'll just be interested to read your reasons why! lol. I didn't love it either...but it was a decent movie.

Big disappointment after goldeneye. I remember being a teenager and thinking this Yeoh was the worst Bond girl I had ever seen. I thought keep them hot over a badass fighter, Bond alone should hold the stage as hero.

I will forever link this movie with Star War thanks to you as I still have that horrible Jar-Jar, and any taste in my mouth. *Barfs*.

I did like the upped anti an action, and guns-a-blazing, but I agree it was very much a step down in quality as compared to Goldenye a rare, rare, film I actually bought.
