Having lived through all of them since Super Pong - I think the current PS3 vs Xbox 360 is the most dramatic - mainly cause they are so similarly matched as far as hardware - so it's the services and the drama of the fans that is most exciting. Plus it has gone on a long, long time.

I had an Atari 2600 and my friend an Intelevision. It had better graphics, but we had more games. Then we both got Atari 800 computers and were happy on that.

Plus there weren't the internet forums in the 1980's.



 

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

No contest, SNES-Genesis hands down all the way.

But I'm shocked to see PS360 at #2. These two soulless corporate giants going head to head over the same slice of the multimedia and entertainment industry pie is a better battle in most gamers' opinions on here than the epic three way dance during the 32-64 bit era between Sony, Nintendo and SEGA that turned the gaming industry on its head and ended with SEGA left for dead???

You guys need to get your heads checked.

While I consider SNES vs SEGA Genesis the most officially supported rivalry, I consider the PS3 vs Xbox 360 as a larger conflict from the consumer side. This might be due to the digital age, but since the companies are more reserved than to launch commercials like Sega did back then, they don't have to because thousands of fanatics do the job for them now.



Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

To add to my earlier post, Nintendo vs Sega is to World War II as PS3 vs Xbox 360 is to Cold War. Still both historical in their own rights but Nintendo vs Sega will always be much more memorable due to the extent they went in order to establish recognition
