Sony needs to go head to head with MS.
If 720 is released in Sept... PS4 needs to be released Oct/Nov.
If 720 is $400... PS4 needs to be the same price.

ND have 2 teams now, once the TLOU team is finished early next year they could help with Uncharted 4 for a year, making development much quicker, maybe not the whole team but I', sure at least some would, especially if it's a request from Sony to have as a launch title or launch window title. Actually by Q3 this year TLOU will be at the polishing stages, so maybe some of the team will switch to Uncharted 4 that early. I think it's definitely possible, and it would be a great move for Sony. As would GT6, which seems very possible as it'll be 3 years since the last release when PS4 comes out, Polyphony was already working on it a couple months before GT5 came out and they said development will be quicker this time. |
No.
Thats not how things work. Naughty Dog probably doesnt WANT Uncharted as a launch title.... why release a game to a user base of 0 people???
They will come out with U4 in 2014 when PS4 has a 8-12 million user base.

Especially after how glitchy and rushed Uncharted 3 was, I think ND will want an extra year to wok on U4.

So, we're all betting on Uncharted 4 being Naughty Dog Team 1's project then? Somehow, I don't see it.
Given the history of how Naughty Dog operates, the talented people there etc., I can't see them wanting to stay on just one project. Even with the runaway success that UC was, I think they'll move onto something else. Maybe give Uncharted to Bend or Team 2 or something.
Unless Sony forces them to of course, idk.

It's not really up to ND. Of course they have a say, but it's Sony funding their studio, and they could offer them a big bonus if they get it out at launch.

lol really? I don't think I encountered a glitch in UC3, not even one. That's really odd cause I've heard this criticism before

They were FORCED to stop making Crash Bandicoot since they didnt own the IP.
Jak 2 and 3 had poor and declining sales, so it made sense to start a new IP on PS3.
It absolutely would not make sense to drop Uncharted at this point. Its become a big success and sells well (6 million).

For Sony it wouldn't make sense, sure, but look what happened with the previous two transitions:
Crash -> Jak. Changed from a 3D platformer in an essentially 3D field to a fully 3D, expansive, open world, critically acclaimed masterpiece. They could tell a better story, create more exciting worlds, introduce etc.
Jak -> Uncharted. Changed from a teenage-esque platformer with shooting elements to a fully fledged third person shooter with a grown up, exciting story with interesting set pieces, which just made an incredibly cinematic game.
I don't like overhyping companies, but I want to see what Naughty Dog can do next. I genuinely believe that they can expand their games even further if they're not bound in by having to cater to a pre-existing franchise.
