$300 is the most they could.charge for it.

It seems an overwhelming majority of us feel Nintendo will not get away with higher then 299.99$ personally I had voted 250$ but it would appear I was a little low. Personally with the current line up I won't be buying a WiiU till 2013. Pikmin3 is what would get me to buy day one, but only with full online coop and multiplayer as well as local multiplayer. Pikmin3 would have to fully utilize the hard wares capabilities if they wanted me to buy a WiiU day one.

Its really sucky I have bought every Nintendo system since GBA day one. That's four systems I have bought day one. But E3 was just so terrible I simply cannot justify a purchase of WiiU under these conditions.

Nintendo failed to provide a single piece of evidence they have learnt a single thing from 3DS's initial failure. They showed once again that they are ignoring Reggie they are stuck in 2005. They failed to show anything new in the games that is unique from a hardware stand point. They didn't even show the NFC, they didn't show games will have online coop or multiplayer.

In my opinion Nintendo has lost a customer for half a year or so until they show me they actually care for my business. I want a real Nintendo platform with Star Fox, Donkey Kong, LoZ , F-Zero or at least one of those IP day one.

But we are getting a New Super Mario Bros U that doesn't show any noticeable improvement over the last one. I mean Yayz we can write notes yippy!!!

If the system was going to sell at a good price they would have revealed it on E3 and boast about it. I think they would most likely sell it between $350-400

Just like Sony when they revealed the PS3's price, right?

Nintendo hasn't revealed the price yet because there are too many varaibles in the market right now (mainly currency exchange rates) to be 100% sure they can nail down the specific price they are targeting and still be able to at least break even or make a small profit.

Nintendo will probably have an event towards the end of the summer / early fall where they showcase everything for the Wii U and reveal the exact price and launch date for all regions.

My guess is it's going to be $300.  $250 is too low and will pretty much confirm that the Wii U is severely underpowered.  Anything over $300 and there would have to be some launch games that justify a price point of nearly double its competitors, and ports of games Assassin's Creed 3 and Mass Effect 3 with no noticeable improvements visually over current gen consoles wouldn't cut it.  (Wii U exclusives like Pikmin 3 and ZombiU, while sporting great visuals, aren't exactly blowing away the competition).

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

It seems to point to US$299.99 at this point, which is a decent price, $50 dollars more than Wii is a reasonable enough price for the 'casuals' to spend on, and $50 less than the 'core' gamers would already spend on.
They should price it more competitively at $279.99; And market it smartly by exposing themselves much more than they ever had before.

Honestly, since Nintendo seems to genuinely enticed to attract the "hardcores", and apparently seems to have this questionable itch they feel obliged to capture that specific audience. They have proven time and time again that they are a unique hardware maker with specific undeniable audience to market upon.

I swear, if I hear G4 and the likes still run the "I'm still not sure what it is if it's an add-on for Wii, or is it really next-gen, another Mario in Smash Bros but I'll sure as hell be excited for PSABR because it has Big Daddy in it", I will purchase a Nair and remove the hair on a random cat, eat the cat, throw it up, and shove it on Morgan Webb's anus, and sexually rip her apart.

I noticed most answers are around the 300-350 mark.

would anyone be willing to pay $400-$450 if it come with a 320gb HDD, 4GB of ram and a newer video card then rumored?

or at the end of the day since its a Nintendo and potentially lack of 3rd party, it doesn't matter if they increased the specs

its irrelevant, because we know that no such SKU exists.

Funnily enough, those were my thoughts too.

it is a hyperthetical. Because I bet sony or microsoft hardcore fans would not buy it at that price (which is fine) no matter what you put in it.

The thing I am trying to gather is, people are saying the WiiU is underpowered but yet I bet most of them would not pay the same $$$ they would for nextBox or PS4, if they were equivalient. So does it really matter if it is only slightly better then PS3/360? If Nintendo made it beafier would they really get more 3rd party support? would those who consider themself hardcore games buy it?

My guess is no. Nintendo are really banking on their loyal base to buy the console as well as make it affordable enough for people who have no brand loyalty and look for best value for money.

Personally i wish consumers valued their gaming consoles like they do their iphones.

I would love to see $450 become the norm, so we get great leaps each generation of consoles. But at the same time, if that happened gaming would become een more neiche.
