Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo's E3 was underwhelming

Wait 3ds is tomorrow right? Maybe something nice will be shown for that.

I think it was the most underwhelming because Nintendo had the most potential.

Sony were a bit of a let down because of the no-shows (Last Guardian, Versus XIII) but at least they generally showed exciting stuff, save for the Wonderbook.

Microsoft I didn't expect much from, but Forza Horizons and Halo 4 were okay.

But Nintendo... come on. They're launching a console before the end of the year, and I got to see Pikmin 3, New Super Mario Bros. and some ports of pre-existing games. Zombies looked kinda cool actually.

Not a single mention of any franchise outside of Mario and Luigi. No Zelda, Metroid, F-Zero, Star Fox, Donkey Kong or anything? Come on :(

.... Where was Retro's game?! Seriously I just don't understand. Retro have been hiring a bunch of developers. Their last game was in 2010. They make staggeringly beautiful games that appeal to the hardcore. I thought it was nigh on guaranteed that their game would be the big centre show piece for Nintendo to showcase the improved hardware. Yet.... nothing.

They really needed something first party to show what it could do when going for a more realistic style. Pikmin 3 looked fantastic but it's hard to show the improved graphics with the pikmin themselves as they are such simply shapes.

Turkish says and I'm allowed to quote that: Uncharted 3 and God Of War 3 look better than Unreal Engine 4 games will or the tech demo does. Also the Naughty Dog PS3 ENGINE PLAYS better than the UE4 ENGINE.

Felt like a waste of time. Absolutely awful show.

All of this, of course, is just my opinion.

Skyrim 100%'d. Dark Souls 100%'d.
Dark Souls > Skyrim.
Halo 4 is the best damn FPS since Halo 3.
Proud pre-orderer of 2 PS4's and an Xbox One.

Currently Playing: Dark Souls II, South Park
Playstation 4: MGS V GZ, Killzone: Shadow Fall, NBA 2k14.

I thought this show was Nintendos for the taking, but they were just poor IMO. Most third party games were games that have been released already on ps3/Xbox/pc, or will be releasing at the same time. It was more mario and a lot of stuff seemed the same as was what was on the wii, but with a few more gimmicks. (Nintendo land, wii fit u etc). I don't think they will have convinced the hardcore that the wii u will compete with the new play station and Xbox.

People who have seen E3 2008 know very well it could be much, much, much worse.

It lacked the "bang" it needed at the end. Starting with Pikmin 3 (awesome) and (the beautiful) New Super Mario Bros. U was great. Some of the third-party games like Scribblenauts, ZombiU, and Lego City Undercover were very interesting, though Rayman was sorely missed.
Altogether, it was okay. maybe about as good as last year's conferece in my opinion. But a far cry from E3 2010.

Good thing there's the 3DS conference tomorrow.

I can't believe this. They're launching the Wii U with.. ..?!

a 2d Mario. Let's not let Nintendo's poor showmanship (and i'm not trying to whitewash that it was some bad showmanship) overwrite existing facts.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Jokes on you guys, you shouldn't be overhyped.
